    Next BMW Z4 with V8 from new M3

    This thing would be fun (chipped twin turbo motor wouldn't be bad either). The new V8 is actually lighter than current iron-block 6cyl, so handling should improve too:

    Ya sure, I've heard that argument before. The next boxster will probably have a larger engine with (hopefully) 350hp+. The mid engine handling of the boxster will not be matched by a front heavy Z4.

    Current Z4 with heavy front is faster than current Boxster.

    I'm not talking about straight line speed as these cars are all about the light, nimble feel of a two seat, compact roadster. The boxster with its mid-engine balance should remain king in that department even though the Z4 supposedly has 50/50 weight distribution.

    Very nice. I bought one last year and it sure is a fun little car and the 09 will be much better I am sure.

    This should be a blast, if they redesign the exterior with softer lines, more like the Z8, I'd seriously consider one.

    I'd Looooove to buy one BUT I will NOT buy one. Same with replacing my current E46 M3 with a new one.

    I guess BMW believes my mentality has devolved after owning BMWs for 25 years.

    Why does BMW think I would want to drive around in and be seen in an overly aggressive-looking car that is intended to resemble an angry reptile? fk!

    I showed this photoshop to my friend who is engineer in BMW , but he said this photoshop dont show real design of E89 Z4...

    Yes, but that's because they built it ugly, not because they built it as a coupe per se!

    V8 will be in Z4 M, but he said 3000 twin turbo will be great choice for new Z4, it will be more powerfull than is current 335i.

    If new roadster will get SL style roof, then they probably wont produce coupe version. And looks like new Z4 will have SL style roof as an option...

    A friend took me in his new Z4 roadster convertable from Aberdeen to Lossimouth along the windy roads in the summer. Fantastic car and unbelievable performance. Obvioulsy that was the 6 in line engine, imagine the TTV8 !!!!

    I don't think there will be a TTV8. Either non-Turbo V8 or TT6. I think they'll save the TTV8 for the heavier cars (X6, 5er, 7er, etc.)

    I also wish that German car designers would stop with their cartoon book exaggerated designs that use reptile headlights, shark vents and whale butts. Its not pure or holistic looking, in fact its pathetically juvenile.Enough is enough.

    It's funny you should say that. I've spent some years averting my eyes now whenever a BMW Z Model came within view. I don't have a big appetite anyway, so don't need any artificial aids to put me off my food - I might become anorexic or something. (I might need to learn to spell it correctly first, though ).

    Anyway, I actually consciously LOOKED at a current-model Z-coupe today, and I didn't have to throw up .

    Why didn't someone tell me that Chris Bangle has been stripped of his Lederhosen and banished from Bavaria?

    Fritz, thats what you get when you design cars for the urban fancy sweater set.

    Car design has become so effete and banal that BMW is actually proud of their new X6 Prada hauler. Japanese car designers in the 70's just didnt know any better, German car designers these days either spend too much time shoe shopping or are just legally blind.

    The Panamera isnt a step forward either. Like the Cayenne, people will avert their eyes and buy it for its name.

    New TTv8 is too tall for the sleek hood of the Z4, remember BMW put the turbos and the exhaust ports in the V valley, there is a lot of hardware on top of the engine block.

    New Z4 (E89) will be presented soon after new year and production starts before summer next year.
