The issue is far from fixed based on many accounts...
It is all about proper maintenace and installation procedure which seem too complex for the broad consumer base.
Of course, it seems that no failures so far have occured on public roads. So far, Porsche is fine, as nothing on the car is warrantied during track use anyway.

True but some owners may not have been informed...or just don't care? 
I still think it was a driving error, he hit the rear part of his car and the brute force was just too much...
It is difficult to say from the position of the "camera man".

I don't think that is the extent of the difficulties. There is a group-buy from a US Porsche dealer that is supplying factory parts to relatively large numbers of center-lock owners to convert back to 5-lug wheels/hubs at considerable expense (new wheels required too).

What kept my attention on this video was the tire blasting away just in front of the camera man, he, and people around him could have died if that tire "eat" them!!!!! As to the accident itself, not enought images or info to take any credible conclusion.

I had extensive talks with Porsche CH on this subject because friends who track their toys had similar stories of wheels comming off - back then when it was a hot topic - but Porsche have changed the "bolt" in the official recall that needs to pop out properly to secure the wheel and on top of it increased the torque figure. I am not saying that people can still do it wrongly (like you can do it with every basic screw-nuts too) hence you need to get it done by somebody with experience and not just yr local tiredealer who things he can do it easily. Maybe Centerlockwheels need more attention and "higher maintenance" and should only be done by PCenters - but they are not a higher risk when properly installed

I cannot give you more info other than what Porsche told me when picking up my car again after their have send me a official recall letter. All I could see is that the "new system" looks slightly different than the old one and the "caps" they put on do not show the 540 mn anymore which were there on all 4 wheels before. once asking them of what they've done they explained me the system on the lift and showed me how the "pin" has to look like so the wheel is correctly on - before you apply the 600 nm on the nut..... - I am not the expert here but I drove off quite confident that I am fine thereafter...

Perfectly safe for road use! Road use doesn't create the type of loads these cars are experiencing on track... just be sure to learn the correct procedure for their use or get ur Porsche dealer to do your wheel changes. For added comfort, get into the habit of taking the centrelock caps off and checking that the secondary spring lock has been fully extended... Even factory technicians sometimes forget... Takes two minutes to check!

No probs John... Even on track, I don't consider them dangerous... Just not fool-proof... As others have suggested, don't let someone deal with your centrelocks if they aren't intimately familiar with their use! I do all my own wheel changes (except for when the Porsche motorsport guys service the car) and have never had an issue, even on track... :)

True. It´s just a shame that the usage pattern of those specific center lock wheels becomes far more demanding and complex without adding any real benefit over the common 5-lug configuration. Guess that´s why people get understandably frustrated about it.

Question: Is the car in this video an RS 3.8 as the title says or an RS 4.0? The wing looks like a 997.1 RS but the striping/decals make it look like a 4.0????
Just curious as there are rumors that none of the CL failures have happened on a 3.8 RS......yet.
BTW, my 5-lug conversion kit is on the way from Suncoast.com.

It was an RS 4.0 based on the paint job. What a shame.
Easy is correct, not certain what the initial shunt did to the wheel. Huge forces no doubt. That wheel could have killed someone, no problem. Dangerous place to stand.
Try Sunset porsche for parts. A lot cheaper that Suncoast, just my observation.
