Oh my, I can imagine John is going berserk! The weather on this side of the channel is simply stunning; sunny, no clouds at all, not too much wind... guess the only complaint he can have is that he didn't order the convertible!!! :-)

@Joost: I think the UK had the same weather as you yesterday. Today is more cloudy unfortunately. But, I think John H is so much in driving heaven right now, he won't notice even if it's raining buckets ...
I'll bet he's in North Wales enjoying the terrific driving roads there

Thank you so much everyone for all your comments and good wishes...I really, really appreciate them..
Would you believe I was called away yesterday and hardly even saw the car all day let alone drive her..
Finally got to grips today and took a spin over to North Wales - Easy & Porker will know why..
I'm taking a moderate to strict view regarding the the breaking-in process, so obviously haven't explored even a fraction of the GTS's potential YET! My driving impressions will therefore be very limited for the time being. I have a nice round trip planned in 2 weeks time so should be able to share much more with you when I get back.
Did just over 100 miles today. I checked the tyre pressures before leaving and found them to be 6psi over-inflated all round! Not the first time a main dealer has released a car to me with high readings! Anyway, my first experience with Bridgestone was a good one - much quieter road noise. The car also feels so much better planted than my old one did.
I waited until I got some nice quiet open road and then slipped her into manual sport mode...WOW! that was some change, everything livens up and I was able to use the paddles for the first time. I found them very intuitive, even though my left leg couldn't get the hang of it's new role and pumped at fresh air - almost had to do a "Dr. Strangelove" to restrain it..!
I tried sport plus very briefly but there was no way I could hold back the revs in that setting so slumped back to normal very quickly. It was though a stunning insight into what is in store for me...can't wait!!
More soon......

As usual my black beauty behaved impeccably on the drive to the OPC. In fact she excelled herself as if to say..."I can do as well as anything you can replace me with!"
After five and a half years of solid service, it was like saying goodbye to a dear old friend and I felt a bit of a lump in my throat as I watched a stranger remove her from my life for ever....
"Silly old sod" you'll say - but that was exactly what I felt.
Enter the new mistress - younger, more beautiful...oh so beautiful... and eager to please.
We had the same sentiments when we bade a fond farewell to our much loved Boxster S - we felt we'd betrayed her by leaving her unloved at the dealership having switched our loyalties to a friskier replacement. The memories of our first meeting at Porsche Stuttgart, trips to Germany, South of France, Dordogne, Brittany and many parts of the UK. Silly to get emotional about a machine but we did.
Your GTS looks truly fantastic, and we look forward to meeting up at some time in the near future.

Love it. Congrats John. Don't forget to update your avatar. God it looks nice in the last pic. (should say it looks beautiful anyway but the angle in the last pic shows the 997 off perfectly IMO)
Thanks Rich... I took your advice and made the last picture my new avatar..

Many congrats john !! Its been quite a waiting period, I'm very happy for you. I agree with ResB, the last pic is just amazing. Also your garden looks great
You're right... 4 months is a long time, but worth it in the end..

Hey John, thanks for the post! I am taking delivery of my Carrera White GTS Cab next week over here in Northern Calif! I think I am getting the first GTS in Northern Calif.
I ordered it in early October...so it has been a long wait! I sold my '03 Boxster S to a fellow PCA member in December...so I've been feeling very lonely for a couple of months! I can't WAIT to get the car (shoulb be on 1/29 or 1/30).
I even did some remodeling in my garage...just for the "new baby"! ...so I'll be sure to post a few pics when I pick her up and park her in her new home!
Thanks again for the posting! ...and I look forward to "sharing the love" with you and other fellow GTS'ers!
Congrats Doug - you won't be disappointed. Looking forward to your photos..
