    211hp John Cooper Works MINI (my2010)

    Hi All,

    I just completed a test drive for the new 2010 MINI Cooper S with the John Cooper 'Works' tuning package. This little 1.6-litre kicked out 211 HP and 260-280Nm of torque. It was magnificent! I forgot how much fun there is to be had from a turbo hatch. These days I spend most of my time in a 911 and when I get asked to test a car out, they normally give me something with 6 or 8 cylinders and over 400 hp, this time I was in my element to be in a hot hatch.

    Have a 2004 JCW with 230hp. I retrofitted quaife lsd. Its a must! Really fun cornering now.

    I drove a Mini Cooper S Works a few years ago and was fantastic fun, a real little kart! The Cooper works is not far from us near Worthing, West Sussex, well worth a visit if in the area. You used to be able to order a car direct from them, still backed up by the BMW dealer network and have your car serviced there. From my experience of our own local BMW dealer that would be the way to go, like Porsche dealers there are good and not so good, Scotthall Hampshire (atrocious), Vines Gatwick and Guildford very good.

    Thought about getting the Cooper D for my daily drive when I bought the Clockwork Rat, at the time the latter didn't have a 6 speed 'box, which it now I has with a BMW engine, although it was more expensive and didn't have as good a warranty. The Cooper SD would have been even better, but even more expensive. We have a fun car with the 997, economy and reliability is the most important factor in my daily drive as I do 20,000 miles a year in it. the Clockwork Rat may be a dull drive (it doesn't pretend to be anything else bar basic transport) but it's been totally reliable with not even a rattle or squeak in over 30,000 miles.

    We used too have a Cooper S JCW until a year ago, the car had 211 BHP. It was just two days ago as I told my wife that I miss that Mini. It was a casual fun drive. The best car in cities anyway, always a parking spot, lots of occasions to accelerate (due to red lights) - so much fun. We even thought about buying one again, but we already have to many cars - anyway, I highly can recommend this fun toy!

    We have a  Clubman S JCW with 211 HP . It's fun, but to me there is too much power to the front wheels as they can not handle it properly ( in roundabouts , curves etc.... )  My wife just love the car and feels ' young and alive' when driving it blush

    You are right Gnil - it has to much power on the front axle. Thats a weakness. But after some riding you get used to it and then it is fun!

    This week-end I drove a girlfriends Cooper Works GP around the Slovakiaring, very chuckable little car, and oh so attractive for a girl! smiley

    A little bit outclassed, poor thing.

    The Mini is for a man a bit f*git.... but for Ladies its a cool car. And you can always excuse.... just drive my wifes car to filling up smiley
