    A little birdie told me...

...that this MY is going to be the last MY of the 450 HP V8 Turbo engine. I think we all know what this means, the facelifted Cayenne Turbo definetely gets more power, right now the rumour indicates 500 HP for the base version, maybe slightly more to cope with AMG's ML 63. Still no official info on the rumored Cayenne Turbo S (non-facelift) with aprox. 520 HP which is expected around march 2006. Another rumor indicates a new powerkit version with aprox. 550 HP.

Update: It seems that the facelift has been postponed to MY 2008 (starting summer 2007).

Re: A little birdie told me...

Ask that "little birdie" if the 650hp version of the Audi V10 is being tested in a Cayenne.

Why not just drop in a CGT engine?

Re: A little birdie told me...

    Uauuu

Re: A little birdie told me...

So we will probably see the facelifted version of the Cayenne by September next year?

Since Porsche will own aprox. 20% of Volkswagen soon, meaning that they actually control Volkswagen (Mr. Piech is a member of the Porsche family and seems to own a substantial number of VW shares too), I doubt that they will "allow" Audi or even Lamborghini to build a more powerful SUV than they (Porsche) do.

Re: A little birdie told me...

but i think an Audi or VW or Lambo SUV isn't the main concern, it's Mercedes SUV... and they don't have control over that

Re: A little birdie told me...

yes the new ML sells so well here in Boston

I don't know about the US or about South Africa but Mercedes has a tough time over here selling high priced cars to "premium" customers. BMW and especially Porsche do much better over here, the X5 and even the new little X3 became somehow THE SUV of the wealthy people, the Cayenne is somehow even superior. The M-class never really got the attention it deserved. Mercedes had a lot of quality problems in the past, especially with the new E-class.

And especially at current fuel prices over here in Germany, I doubt that the ML500/ML63 AMG will find many customers over here. And the interesting thing is: if fuel prices keep on going up over here, Porsche's decision to build the Panamera could actually be on the most important decisions they've taken since the Cayenne introduction. Because when Cayenne sales drop, the Panamera could "take over", especially since it will be build in Leipzig too. Very clever decision.

Re: A little birdie told me...

I was wondering which breed are the birds you guys have.

My birds only say PIU, PIU and they spend all day long dropping poo on my window.

    Woshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Piu Piu

Re: A little birdie told me...

Can't imagine why anyone would get an ML. They truly are the most ugly of the new generation SUV's. Even the sleek new lines cannot hide this from being simply 'a cereal box on wheels.'

Re: A little birdie told me...

I have to agree with you mish. I recently rented a brand new ML500, the car was not really much different than the old one, still boxy and very boring. Ive recently had a change of heart with my Cayenne Turbo, i guess im keeping it till May 06 where i will trade in my current one for the 07 Facelifted CT

the SUV market here is quite close between all the manufacturers. the cayenne here is THE SUV for wealthy people, as the base Cayenne is priced at 150k US dollars. the i think slowly but surely the fuel prices will start to effect sales on larger displacement cars, so far people have been ignorant about it

Re: A little birdie told me...

Dealer confirmed the Turbo S as having 520 HP as a MY 2006 Feb-Mar 2006 delivery. what u guys think? id rather wait for the facelifted turbo 2007 with a powerkit which will bring it up to 550 hp Order guide should be available in April 06 so mark your calendars

Hi Fireo. How does the new ML 500 compare power wise to the CT? Do you get the CT kick when accelerating?

I am also thinking of waiting for the facelift - and then swapping her for a Turbo S...

Re: A little birdie told me...

You see thats the thing mish. I compare my CT to anything i drive and DEFINATELY the ML 500 has no where near the punch the CT gives you while accelerating same goes to the RR sport! As our resident forum member extraordinare Paulo_Rangel_Melo says "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH" All rights reserved i wont use your quote again i promise

Re: A little birdie told me...

Agreed...the CT is just a killer to drive.

Any idea when the Facelifted Turbo S will be available? I can't understand why Porsche would release the Turbo S in March - then facelift the car a few months later....seems ridiculous!

Re: A little birdie told me...

Well, they seem to traditionally do that to boost thier sales of an aged model. i dont know about you but i have noticed porsche advertising in general for the cayenne boosted significantly this year, i guess to get rid of all the 2006's ahead of the facelift!. The question is, would they delay the introduction of the facelifted cayenne turbo for one model year, but the dealer didnt say that, so i dont know what to think.

Re: A little birdie told me...

Fireo, I am still pretty angry that they are even facelifting the thing in the first place! It's only been out for the best part of 2.5 years....

When the Cayenne was first launched - did Porsche introduce the S and Turbo at the same time? The 911 Turbo's always have a signifant lag time from their base and S brothers!

Perhaps an 08 facelifted Turbo S will be the way to go??

Re: A little birdie told me...

Well i really dont remember what they had at launch. 911's usually lag the turbo a year or two after they launch a new model, but this time they released the carrera and the carrera s at the same time. I just hope we dont have to wait long for the facelifted one.

Re: A little birdie told me...

my dealer just promised me today that in calender year 2006 there will be no facelift/no other motors for Cayenne. He promised me even to write it under a contract....???!!!

Wow, that's interesting - and certainly ties in with my info....can you elaborate?

Re: A little birdie told me...

Dealer confirmed the facelift aint coming before the 08 model year! now thats why he was convincing me to get the Turbo S model. So typical of porsche to prolong the model by one more year with a special one off!

Re: A little birdie told me...

Fireo...that's what I heard too dude....08 all the way!!!

I have decided that I will get the TS on the upcoming facelift. I just can't fathom spending that much money on the upgrade only for them to Facelift the thing 9 months later!
