Like how Max was saying before and how every F1 driver feels?

Literally a non-story created out of thin air.

All F1 drivers wants a great car to drive.

    Re: 2023 Formula One

Sorry my boy is Russell. Been raving about him for a few years now. As it happens I also favour Norris, Leclerc, Albon. I love to see the young kids doing well and battle more, they are the future of F1. Hamilton and Alonso are the last of the old guards now that Vettel is gone, they aren't going to stay forever.

There is a difference. Hamilton I just recognizes his greatness, like Tiger and Jordan. He has earned every single bit of respect he deserves on track, unlike some others who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, who has fathers that planned everything. Also he deserves to be treated equally with others. If Verstappen is getting a pass for running people off the track, that same pass should apply to Hamilton, or Alonso, or anyone else on track.

In case you didn't noticed, I know the racing rules very well, and I watch F1 races with a very keen eye towards observing the rules, doesn't matter who the driver is or who I wanted to win, rules are rules. But as it happens, Verstappen is the one that's always running borderline and not Hamilton. Despite that I still recognizes Verstappen's ability, which is why I had been saying Verstappen will be a greater driver if he would just observe the rules, he has the car and the ability, he doesn't need to cheat or skirt the rules or generally drive questionable races. He is better this year however.

What a great qualifying effort by Leclerc.

The Red Bulls care faster cars but this is all Leclerc, erased that car advantage from Red Bull just from sheer skills and bravery on track.

Wonder if Verstappen threw another tantrum behind closed doors.

    Re: 2023 Formula One

Oh Max Max Max, you never changed do you?

Always whines whenever he doesn't gets his way.

His contact  with Russell is so unnecessary. If he waited a few more corners, he can just walk right over Russell's Mercedes on the main straight with a vastly superior car. But no, he wants to bully Rissell into backing off but he came off worse.

Russell didn't do anything Max wouldn't have done, the shoe is on the other foot now. Russell was gracious enough to at least apologize to Max after the race, yet Max still wanted to unload on him. Did Max ever go up to another competitor and apologize for his on track behaviour? Never.

And he knew it too that he took unnecessary risks,  he said he has more to lose and Russell doesn't, so why would he risk it all on the first lap in the first place?

That one bonehead move cost him at least 2nd place in the Sprint with a damaged car. Had he done a clean pass on the main straight, he would have a perfectly intact car to challenge Leclerc if not even Perez.

Good see you know it all. Saw an interview with Max (in Dutch his native tongue) which give a much more balanced story.  But the again you know it all (and better)

Bit of a stretch to put the blame on Max for that, Nick... I also don't like the guy but let's remain objective.

    Re: 2023 Formula One

I never said Russell is faultless. He also knew that and went up to Max to apologize in person right after the race.

And the stewards didn't even deem it anything other than a racing incident.

Russell has spoke on it during interviews, and so did the presenters on Sky, that what's the point of Max risking it all on the first lap, when he knew he has the superior car and can just pass him whenever he feels like later on?

Max, during his interview, said why is Russell fighting him, Max has the superior car and Russell should just yield no question asked, not exact words somewhere along that line. That's the entitlement in him.

On the review big screen tv, the incident was re-played frame by frame, showing both left the bare minimum 1 car width for each other so both are racing fair.

it was unfortunate that on cold tires Russell has the lock up and understeer into Max's car. And then the argument comes full circle right back to the why on Max. Like any other F1 driver on the grid, he knew cold tires isn't going to have as much grip, so why take the risky move and try to pass Russell on the outside then and there? Why not wait a bit? It's not like he is going to be stuck behind Russell for the whole race or for long., the Red Bulls can blow by anything less than a Ferrari on the front straight anyways.

Now so what if Max would lose a full second finishing that first lap behind Russell until the front straight, does Max thinks he is incapable of making up that one second and catch back up to Leclerc and Perez? Of course not, he thinks he is a much faster driver and so that one second means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. I would give Max 5 laps to be right on the tail of the Ferrari at most, if not even less than that.

In an alternate universe, say Russell did more damage to Max's car, say put it in the wall and out if the race. Thus Max scoring no points. And yes, Russell would get a 3, 5 grid place penalty for the next race, does that penalty help Max recover the points lost? Absolutely not. And again the question becomes the why. Why would Max take such a risk in the first place? For someone with nothing to lose, that risk is worth it, but for someone with something to lose, then the risk is too great.

I don't really see this line of thinking is being harsh to Max. It's just logical thinking, on his on track decision making. Or lack of.

    Re: 2023 Formula One

Cool. Max can clearly walk on water too.

Max, isn't the only aggressive driver now, Russell is providing a good match for him. Leclerc is another.

They aren't afraid of Max like Hamilton did before.

    Re: 2023 Formula One

Been saying that, but some just doesn't like to talk about this aspect of Verstappen at all, pretending this side doesn't exists.

Negative things cannot be tolerated about him. 🤷🏻‍♂️

He has amazing driving abilities, but calling him a decent human being is already a stretch.

    Re: 2023 Formula One

Being Dutch and coming from the same area as Verstappen I am of course not completely biased. The “Telegraaf” is one the biggest Dutch newspaper and know for their sensational articles. I had to dig deep to find the very small article in which he “apparently” made the “princess” remark. This was only on website of the Telegraaf and not in the printed version. In other Dutch media I have not seen any mention of the Princess remark. In a pod cast of the Telegraaf they are of the opinion the Max was wrong in the incident.

In the interview (in Dutch) after the incident Max was very calm (expressed his opinion that George was wrong) did not use any offensive language. At the end he was asked are you still okay with George, and he said of course. During the interviews in Dutch Max is always very calm and nice. His driving stile is relentless that’s for sure, but this was the same for Schumacher or Senna. In general, I find the English-speaking press negative over Max but for the same token the Dutch press is negative about Hamilton. Personably I find Hamilton a bit arrogant. At the last year F1 at Spa I was at the paddock, all drivers were nice with the fans, but Hamliton was only even seen with the fans if there was a camera around. As soon as the cameras were gone he ran away.
