    ???
That's only about 21 miles to the gallon. Not very impressive. Maybe you did the calc wrong. I can get 25 mpg average at 75mph in my 997S easily. At 100kph I would have guessed more like 7L/kms.

It can easily go down to 10. something, that's for sure....I decided to cruise down the motorway at speeds of 90kph-120kph in 7th gear to see where the fuel consumption figueres ended, the best was 11.2L/100kms, if I would have continued I would have seen 10.something, guaranteed....7th gear is like putting the engine into idle....and if you dont press sport plus button and drive relax, PDK, will inmediately insert the highest gear possible, so may be that's why official fuel consumption figueres are that great....

Also have in mind, that car is a demo, so you can imagine what type of treatment that car has suffered....it had 4400kms when i got it, and returned it with about 4.900kms....and overall driving with that car, hasn't been relaxed at all...I'd say completely the way round since first day....in fact when I got the car, fuel consumption was reading 15.9L/100kms...

I'm sure for a long trip drive of 500kms, cruising at 120kph in 7th gear can show you figueres of 10L/100kms or even less.....

Porsche has reduced fuel consumption for sure !!

    Re: 997S PDK Cabriolet mk2 test-drive, all weekend !!!

today our dealer said me, all those facelift ordered with PSE wont be delivered untill January-February !!...

How you guys see the combination of white exterior colour with beige interior with sport backet seats?, PDK, sprt chrono plus and PSE?....with basic carrera S wheels.

Was this official information from PAG or his own
    speculation?

What I've heard is that production PSE will be as from 11/08, but availability as Tequipment will start probably in 01/09.

dont know if official, they received a letter, with this information...so probably it is (but I cannot guarantee)..

And I wrote January, ....I wanted to say FEBRUARY-MARCH...In our case its not bad news (like I said in our case), as we want delivery for first months of 2009 for various reasons, nothing to do with the car or Porsche......So guess all facelift deliveries for the next months, will have pse retrofited if they finally want.

Cant wait to listen to a soundfile, it has to be similar to the 997gt3 sound??? (I hope)

Availability through Tequipment will not be at least before february according to my garage. I had them make inquiries and this is the answer they received from P

    Re: 997S PDK Cabriolet mk2 test-drive, all weekend !!!

I ordered a new 2009 back in early July. It is supposed to be here in late September.

I got a Carrera S Coupe in Guards Red
    PDK
PASM Sport -20mm (comes with LSD!!!)
    Sport Chrono Plus
    Sport Seats
    Red Seat Belts
    Red center Console paint

I wanted the car to be as simple and light as possible because I am more into the sport side of Porsche than the luxury options side. I track the car every month too.

I freakin' can't wait till it gets here. I love the look of the new stock S wheels too.

Not that it's important, but that iPod cable and storage area seems not well thought out. Does the cable wrap around properly to allow storing an iPhone in there?

I don't know what model this is, but it just fits

Re: 997S PDK Cabriolet mk2 test-drive, all weekend

I got the same info about PSE cars being delivered in feb/march next year.I haven't decided if I should pick up the car in Dec and retrofit at the same cost price or just wait until March...hard call

Is anyone sure that the merits of PSE are limited to the sound?
Porsche say no additional PS but this could be to avoid type approval procedures.
    Has anyone dynoed?

Because everytime I drive a sport exhaust car it feels more eager to rev and it is as if it is more powerful.

    Reality or illusion?

reality but Porsche will never divulge such info about more PS when you go for PSE

Re: 997S PDK Cabriolet mk2 test-drive, all weekend

    +1

Re: 997S PDK Cabriolet mk2 test-drive, all weekend

Has anyone ever verified this by putting cars on a dyno?

Re: 997S PDK Cabriolet mk2 test-drive, all weekend

It may rev more eagerly, but do you really think that if there was a 2-5HP gain, that Porsche would not use that as a selling point? I think you get a different sound and feel to the same power curve.

Re: 997S PDK Cabriolet mk2 test-drive, all weekend

Thanks Alex for the interesting report and nice photos

Re: 997S PDK Cabriolet mk2 test-drive, all weekend

Agree with Alex's notes on the mechanicals. Engine in particular in my 2 short test drives was v. impressive - very racy sound - as were the mechanicals of the PDK. I played with the fuel economy meter and it seemed at cruise (60-ish MPH) in 7th you could get around 30 mpg or more in a coupe non-S version. Pretty good really and in line with their claims.

I had a lot of trouble with the puddles, but you could argue that my competence might explain that...

Glad you liked it Alex - nice write up as others have said.

    Best SoS.

Glad you like it Easy & SOS !!!!

the air-vents from the front seats to suck fresh air for the ventilated option.

Alex18_996CC...what the hell is that HUMP in the back of the chair.. seat ventillation option gives you a hump in both chairs? I already have problems fitting my kids in the back. Do you think this will be a space problem????

"Seat ventilation" implies the use of a fan and motor. The hump was obviously needed to make room for them and the air inlet duct.

Re: 997S PDK Cabriolet mk2 test-drive, all weekend

would be interested in hearing the result
having driven both, I'm inclined to agree.
the notion of the engine breathing better, more eagerly, and revving more easily seems consistent with more power as well.
i wonder if any of the engineers could weigh in on this

The legs fit on either side of the hump when somebody that fits sits in a natural position. If the rear space is adequate the hump is not in the way.

    Re: SEAT VENTILLATION HUMP???

I ordered this option and now I am worried about being disappointed by this hump. I understand the argument that your legs will fit on either side, but still it is going to take up space in a space-valuable spot in this tiny cabin.
These issues will only be clarified when enough cars hit the road and we get some statistics.

However, any comments wil be welcomed...
