$665 per Horsepower. Real horses don't cost much more than that
Ah, but surely you know that thoroughbred horses fetch much higher prices than (tuners') old nags?
Good one

In what type of use would the high cost be justified?
I've not been able to find the right answer myself.

ECB option looks nice. Has anyone seen a photo of the XPU Aluminum Look PDK steering wheel option? Specifically, I am curious as to whether the steering wheel rim is all leather with aluminum look in the center only or mostly aluminum look with leather only on the side grips.
Here is the old version XPV option...

Why would anyone forgo the feeling of a leather steering wheel for a lousy Al ring? BTW... I've seen those Al steering wheels badly scratched in service department's bays.

But if the alu of the steering wheel is just too cold for your fingers, you can get a heated steering wheel now.

Only one thing is missing then... Heated PDK puddles! That means in P. language:"Do not touch puddles! Leave it in D mode!"
Sorry to say this-but, after my PDK test drive it is a TIP replacement. PDK is working so much better in D(Sport) mode then in manual mode IMO.
Is it good or bad? I still can not decide...

January 2009 AFAIK. BUT, isn't X51 simply said overpriced?
Is your source very reliable?
Because if it so, I might ask for my order for 11/08 production to be put back.

My source is from Stuttgart(he works for P.)... Your dealer could email the factory as well...
January 2009 means week 3. In clear words earliest deliveries late February 2009...
My advice-do not order it. Spec you dream 997.2CS without X51. It is not worth it(IMHO)...

Thanks for your reply.
You mean not worth it for the money, which sure is too much?
Or it doesn't add much to the driving experience anyway?

First, it is OVERPRICED.
Second, if my info is correct then X51 will offer more power in upper rev range. In normal daily driving it want be any faster then standard 997.2CS...
BTW, I know you will go for PDK... Standard PASM or Sport PASM for you?

So perhaps only the Ferari system is suited to be used ontinuously in manual mode.
For F1/Superfast from the F430 onwards that surely is true. I wonder if it still can be said from the new DCT in the California?

I expect the DCT to be in the PDK/DKG/DSG mould.

That would be very disappointing.

From what I can understand from Ferrari's marketing strategy, the target group for the California is different from the mid-engined spyders.
They wouldn't want to create two cars of roughly similar price that appeal to the same people.
