That's my guess. Panarama had pics of a TT a while back in this color and some of the launch pics have shown cars in this color. Malachite Green and Natural Brown leather would be a cool combo.

    thanks Le Chef.....!

have to talk to my Sales Guy ...... the floor models will be in early Sept, along with Samples .... i guess i'll wait to see it in person to avoid any heartache .....

    mnmatt,

You are lucky, I had to choose between PDK and stick without the opportunity to try PDK.

Mine is similarly speced excluding the last nine cosmetic items and park assist but adding voice control. (works nicely on my wife's Infiniti EX-35 and probably identical albeit ten times the cost!)

Actually I asked for the later build time as I wanted the chance to drive one before getting it, and give me a chance to change my order if I didn't like it. I also wanted to make sure if they had any production issues (which I doubt they will have) they will be well worked out before they build my car.

Yes, this question was the main point of the DR review (not reflector stripes!)... but I agree with their conclusion that for many, the 4/2 choice is made by where you live and drive. If you live in mediterranean climates or garage your car in cold weather in northern ones, then most agree the C2 is a more pure drive. But if you want to enjoy Porsche's driving all year around in places that have a winter, the C4 makes more sense, and after all these cars are well tested in winter conditions... they don't originate in Maranello

Re: DR Review: 997.2 Carrera 4

Guys, we have now published the feature group test of the 2wd C2S with PDK against the R8, GTR and Aston V8 Vantage. http://www.drivers-republic.com/features/ Our video test of their laps around Silverstone (with Vbox overlays) will be online from next week.

I am quite a fan of this new DFI engine. We lived with it for a few days during this group test, then Jethro drove back from the 997.2 Carerra 4 launch in a new 997.2 C2S, this time without PDK.

I preferred this manual box 997 to the one with PDK, not least our discovery that the steering wheel on the non-PDK cars is slimmer and more tactile.

I lived with this new C2S for a week which was then replaced by a 997 GT2, and believe it or not I actually missed the C2S..

The 'ordinary' 911 is now more than fast enough and is a very complete car. The GT2 on first acquaintance felt compromised, the turbo lag was noticeable and it didn't initially feel as quick as the C2S (bear in mind that we recorded sub-4 seconds to 60mph when testing this new direct injection 911).

We hand the GT2 back to Porsche next Monday, so perhaps I need to take it for another drive just to remind me why Porsche charge 70% more than the ordinary 911..

Re: DR Review: 997.2 Carrera 4

Fantastic write-up Steve! enjoyed every page of the group test, great work

And very interesting comments about the manual vs PDK experience, and the new DFI engine

Re: DR Review: 997.2 Carrera 4

what color is this ? Atlas grey ?

Re: DR Review: 997.2 Carrera 4

What is the colour of the car in the last two pictures?

Re: DR Review: 997.2 Carrera 4

    Grey no

Re: DR Review: 997.2 Carrera 4

i think indeed after better looking it is meteor gray

Re: DR Review: 997.2 Carrera 4

    Steve

Loved the write up and the format of the site. Really awesome. Seems the GTR has more fans in Europe than Japan! Here in Tokyo the write up's are not as positive as they are in Europe. Seems like the looks, the lack of feedback and general lack of involvement are the main drawbacks (not to mention the cheap feel of the cabin). I have not had the pleasure yet but will do so within the next week or so.

I am in Stuttgart next week and will have the 997.2 for a wee bit then - looking forward to checking it out!

I am toying with getting an AMV8 -even though I placed my C2S order last week - I just think I have had too many Porsches up to now! A change might be good!

Re: DR Review: 997.2 Carrera 4

Change is good. I have no regrets with the AMV8, although I will probably have another 911 at some point (C2S cab and/or GT3)

I agree about the cheap-feeling interior, it's not bad (for a Nissan) but does not rank with any of the mid to high-end prestige marques. It's certainly better though than previous japanese cars.

I wouldn't agree on the lack of feedback/involvement, it's just as much fun to drive as an E92 M3, very nicely balanced and it rewards driver input. Yes, it makes a good driver seem even better, but I don't see that as a downside.

As regards AMV8 or 911, I would choose the 911 in a heartbeat when basing the decision on driving and dynamics, but I've owned more than a dozen Porsches and know what you mean about needing a change. The Aston is a wonderful experience, but I would opt for it in manual rather than pay extra for the automated manual. It all depends on the roads you drive on and what you are looking for.

Not all of us enjoy driving cars near their limit, and many people quite rightly value the aesthetic appeal of something like an Aston over the more functional appeal of a 911.

In the 911 you get in, put the key in the ignition and turn it. With the Aston you get to hold a glass like work of art, called the Emotional Control Unit, which is inserted into the dash and when pressed it starts the car.

The ceremony involved in owning and driving the Aston is clearly designed to appeal to the more aesthetically minded. It also has one of the loudest and best sounding engines that money can buy. Some people will prefer this to the more germanic simplicity of the 911.

As far as the roads are concerned, I found that the Aston drove better along sweeping long-radius roads, without too many direction changes whereas the Porsche thrives on more challenging roads, with ever increasing pace.

If you live on the kinds of roads where the Aston thrives, then the dynamic benefits of the Porsche will be far less evident, likewise as I mentioned your driving style may suit the demeanour of the Aston more than the Porsche.

Personally I hate black-and-white statements judging cars, our job is to find the strengths, weaknesses and other charactericts of a particular car and then let you decide whether one of them might merit further investigation.
