It all depends on the roads you drive on and what you are looking for.
Could you elaborate a bit more on that?
Not all of us enjoy driving cars near their limit, and many people quite rightly value the aesthetic appeal of something like an Aston over the more functional appeal of a 911.
In the 911 you get in, put the key in the ignition and turn it. With the Aston you get to hold a glass like work of art, called the Emotional Control Unit, which is inserted into the dash and when pressed it starts the car.
The ceremony involved in owning and driving the Aston is clearly designed to appeal to the more aesthetically minded. It also has one of the loudest and best sounding engines that money can buy. Some people will prefer this to the more germanic simplicity of the 911.
As far as the roads are concerned, I found that the Aston drove better along sweeping long-radius roads, without too many direction changes whereas the Porsche thrives on more challenging roads, with ever increasing pace.
If you live on the kinds of roads where the Aston thrives, then the dynamic benefits of the Porsche will be far less evident, likewise as I mentioned your driving style may suit the demeanour of the Aston more than the Porsche.
Personally I hate black-and-white statements judging cars, our job is to find the strengths, weaknesses and other charactericts of a particular car and then let you decide whether one of them might merit further investigation.
