When you think about it; that says a lot for the Tiptronic. You know..., it can handle all that HP/Tq and not lose very much power in the process.

I don't actually care that much about timing stats. Just wondering - but pPerhaps the reason why people with Tip/F1/DSG/SMG are so fixated about times is because that's the only 'thrill' left i.e. just seeing how fast you can go or how quickly you can accelerate.
With a manual gearbox, you can largely relax about all that and just enjoy the experience of interacting with the car, choosing gears, heel-toeing, modulating the clutch and accelerator pedals.
It's part of the joy of it. I wouldn't want to delegate (i.e. give away) that pleasure to an electronic mechanism that won't enjoy doing it (unlike me) even though it can actually do it more efficiently than me.
Just my 2 pence.

Funny you should say that because right now I have 3 different vehicles with 3 different types of transmissions. 6 speed manual, 5 speed automatic and 6 speed DSG. I like having the variety.

6 speed all the way! PDK is just a glorified automatic in my book. Yet another crutch for people who can't drive a stick.

Second that, unfortunatley at least here in the US less and less young people are learning to drive stick and if they do they rarely get good at it and eventually hate it and never teach it to their own kids. It is a vicious circle in favour of all non manual transmissions .
