    New Cayenne GTS

    I got Porsche salesman information about new cayenne GTS. It will be released Feb 08. Based on cayenne S over 410HP
    (4.8L V8). But no air suspension. It will be similar 911 oil magnet suspension, lower than normal cayenne S.
    Now, I'm considering to change my CT 04.
    Anybody know this new car?

    sounds like the GT3 version of Cayenne, but what is the purpose?

    As far as I know, it is a special version of the Cayenne S with a less sophisticated 4WD, aprox. 100-150 kg less weight, slightly stronger engine, etc. I don't know who would buy such a car (I wouldn't) but apparently there is a market for such a SUV.

    If I was Porsche, I'd rather start to reduce weight on the Cayenne, 200 kg less and this truck not only gets better handling-/performance wise, it would also eat less fuel.
    I'd rather have a Cayenne with 200 kg less weight and a less sophisticated 4WD than a Cayenne GTS.

    ... or even better a PDK transmission with paddle shift?!
    This would be a perfect solution for a sporty Cayenne imho.

    I can agree. I heard the same. Introduction in Europe will be this year.

    In Germany the GTS will cost from EUR 76.725 -- as a Turbo owner I'd be slightly irritated that a car costing 30.000 EUR less is getting the LED front light stripe.

    Zz,

    I would be glad that your turbo doesn't have the handle like spoiler in the back of it.

    Is this GTS what the RoadRunner (code name) that has come to fruition, anyone?

    The purpose of GTS is to hurt the sales of both the CS and CTT?

    I think this new model is a good, well researched niche for Porsche. Seems to be aimed at folks who want a bit more sportiness than the S, and don't want to spend the money for an option laden Turbo. It is not my niche, but I can appreciate it.

    I also like the venture into new colors--a bit new for Porsche. I am living in Provence for a year, and believe me I am tired of silver and black cars everywhere...

The model, which celebrates its world debut at the IAA in Frankfurt, features an enhanced 4.8-liter V8, has been lowered by 24 millimeters and has a specially developed chassis: it is the first Cayenne to feature the electronically controlled damping system, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), with steel springs. This combination was previously reserved exclusively for Porsche sports cars.

    The 4.8-liter engine with direct gasoline fuel injection (DFI) in the Cayenne GTS yields 405bhp (298 kW) at 6,500 revolutions per minute - 20bhp more than in the Cayenne S. Maximum torque remains unchanged at 500Nm at 3,500 revolutions per minute.

    This, the sportiest of Porsche SUVs, comes as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox and a shorter axle drive ratio than the Cayenne S (4.1:1 as opposed to 3.55:1). The Cayenne GTS can thus accelerate from zero to 100km/h in just 6.1 seconds, precisely 0.5 seconds quicker than the Cayenne S.

    The Cayenne GTS is fitted with Porsche Traction Management (PTM) permanent all-wheel drive and the adaptive PASM chassis as standard. As well as optional air suspension, the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active anti-roll system is available to enhance handling and ride comfort. Newly developed 12-way sports seats and a leather-Alcantara mix emphasize the sporty interior.

    The new Cayenne GTS is instantly recognizable: the front and rear look the same as the Cayenne Turbo, and the striking 14mm wheel-arch enlargements offer plenty of space for the standard 21-inch alloy rims with 295/35 R21 tires. Two new colors have also been reserved exclusively for the GTS: GTS Red and Nordic Gold Metallic.

    The new Cayenne model with Tiptronic S transmission has an average consumption of 13.9 liters/100 km in accordance with EU standards. Global dispatch will start in February 2008. In Germany it will cost 76,725 Euros including 19 percent VAT and country-specific requirements; the base price is 64,300 Euros. The base price for the USA (MSRP USA) is US $69,300.


    I don't understand what it is actually: a Cayenne S, with 20 more hp, lower ride and new colors, together with alcantra interior. ALCANTRA interior on an SUV?!? Must be an experiment, 'cause I am into the woods...

    THis is interesting. The ride hide makes it look like a slightly oversized station wagon. I like it actually. Looks nice.
