    M5 V10------->997 Turbo (oppinions needed)

Ok guys i am making some plans before summer.

My Gallardo's almost finished will be at my garage very soon.

    Anyway ,

Nowadays i have seen some low mileage used 2007 997 Turbos at some luxury auto gallery.
The car is at 1700km and has tiptronic and Sport Chrono Package. 2 years warranty.

I like my BMW M5 V10 it has really impressed me more than i expected , great acceleretaion , great comfort, SMG tranny is really nice when upshifting (not so good for daily drive but is OK) I did 6000km on it, and now the car is at 10000 km. It is 2006 and still it is under warranty for 2 more years.

    Ok,

Here is the 1st plan. Trade M5 V10 , add some and get 1700km 997 turbo tiptronic and get a pure daily used sport car.

Also Keep the Gallardo because it has a new engine, some new parts, new callisto wheels and i ve got a 2 year Lamborghini Warranty. Also last weeks Lamborghini Istanbul has started to work the official service shop. no more to send the car abroad for service.

Drive Gallardo on weekends and drive turbo for daily.

And here is the low chance second plan.

Trade the Gallardo and M5 , give some amount and get a new LP 640 which is ready at same luxury auto gallery. The car has CCB, E-gear, and it has all of the options. However what i think is my Gallardo cost me so much bill for the repair and i also got a 2 years warranty. And giving two car and take a one weekend car makes me think much

Ok which one would be a smart move. For both moves the amount of money i give for addition to my cars would be nearly same.

Any suggestions for M5 to 997 turbo move. Would it be a smart move.

what makes me to change M5 is , i understand that a 4door high performance car is not my taste.

If you don't like the M5 and want to change cars, the LP640 seems like a great choice. That, or perhaps the Turbo Tip.

Re: M5 V10------->997 Turbo (oppinions needed)

So what make to think about LP640 is, does it worth a restored Gallardo+M5 and some amount

Btw i like the M5 totaly but i dont like high performance is not an impressive issue on a 4 door regular shape sedan

Re: M5 V10------->997 Turbo (oppinions needed)

IMO there is no question about it, if these are the only two options, 'Plan 1' is the 'SMART' move.

My logic: a) The 997TT Tip is clearly a great everyday car. I should know, I drive one! 2) Both the Gallardo and the LP 640 will drop significantly in resale value if you put much more than 10,000km on them. 3) The LP 640 is not an everyday car! (yes, it has ultimate looks and maybe the best exhaust note on the market) but visibility is not good.

Actually, IMHO the Gallardo is more everyday friendly then the Lp 640. I got the 997TT Tip and my best friend got the Murcielago at the same time. His sits in the garage and I drive my turbo almost every day!

I am NOT saying the Turbo is a better car than the LP 640 by any stretch of the imagination. For me, the LP 640 is the ultimate car; but not for everyday use!

A good summary. It just depends on what you need the car for. Are you planning to drive it often (Turbo) or do you only need a weekend toy (LP640)?

Re: M5 V10------->997 Turbo (oppinions needed)

    Pro 997tt instead of M5:
    - perfect all-day sports car
    - quickest Porsche you can get at the moment
    - perfect complement to your other cars

Pro LP640 instead of M5 and Gallardo:
    - ultimate sports car this side of an Enzo
    - surely one of the most sensational cars currently available
    - you still got the F430 Spider, right?

Re: M5 V10------->997 Turbo (oppinions needed)

    F430 spider??

Ooops, sorry I got it wrong! It was Raz(NC) who just got his Gallardo back, so I mixed you two up!

So you don't have a F430, makes it a little bit more complicated, since there's one argument less for the LP640 variant. Well, perhaps you should get one...

    - could get boring when having a Gallardo as well in the garage
    - tip maybe not what you are looking for

    - LP640 as the only sports car may be too extreme
    - very restricted usability of the LP640 may be a hindrance

Crash on summers i live 100km distance to the Istanbul. And i had to drive to city and return to summer house at least 4 days per midweek. Basic calculation it makes at least 800km per week.(not including the weekend) I can share this km with Q7 but driving a q7 for all midweek will make me to feel like i had two childs at back seat and a wife at passenger seat.

Ah Raz, yeah he got both G and F430 . nice combo !!!!

    anway
Thanks Rossi that ws a very well input.
I think , maybe i would have an opportunity to get a LP in future like G+997TT=LP.

Btw want to add something , one more option.

If there was a 997 TT cabrio now(i mean it was produced and second hands are in the bazaar), i would jump to that 997TT Conv. But no 997TT Cabrio yet

Caghan, just get the Turbo then. You will probably hate having to commute in a 640 .

Re: M5 V10------->997 Turbo (oppinions needed)

I like your 1st option. Get rid of the M5 and keep the Gallardo.

Re: M5 V10------->997 Turbo (oppinions needed)

Some considerations (pros and cons) which came to my mind when I read your post:

    Strategy 1 (997TT & Gallardo)

+ 997TT is much more fun than M5
+ 997TT is still not too flashy
+ 997TT is a perfect all wheather car
+ you still have the Gallardo, which is a nice "race car"
    - 997TT is less roomy than the M5

    Strategy 2 (LP640)

    - LP640 has no PSM/ESP - dangerous car to use regularly
    - very flashy car
+ definitively interesting to own & drive

In summary, I would go for Strategy 1 or follow Strategy 3 Which is: buy a 599GTB and sell the other two cars. The 599GTB is less flashy than a LP640, safer (has ESP) and offers the same performance

Another negative of the LP640: if recent rumours are correct a SL version of the LP640 might be introduced in fall. Thus, the LP640 might be just the second-best Lambo shortly. Unfortunately, this would be rather typical for Lamborghini. Lamborghini has a reputation for constantly offering new models with an abviously very negative impact on resale values...

Re: M5 V10------->997 Turbo (oppinions needed)

Trade two very nice cars, add some more cash and get one car that is marginally nicer than any of the two you trade? I would not even consider option 2.

    Very good summarisation.

Re: M5 V10------->997 Turbo (oppinions needed)

    Guys thanks for the inputs.

I think i will go and check both two cars LP and 997 TT again and talk to auto gallery. However i also consider a daily used convertible sport car instead of M5. I think i have to visit some more dealers and check the market. But option one looks like it has a better chance

Re: M5 V10------->997 Turbo (oppinions needed)

having lived with an 2006 M-5 with SMG for the past 7 months I cannot wait to get rid of it .. the is the worst M series car that BMW has ever put out ..
The transmission belongs on a race track .. not city streets.
As the the Porsche .. well my old buddy used to have a license plate ... PNECC .. (Porsche .. Nothing Else Comes Close)!!
