Guys.... Sorry there was some missunderstanding. My contact was writing 2008 in his email, so I guessed September 2008. But after a chat last night he was sending a email with this informations:

- 04/2008 3.6/3.8 DI
- 04/2009 911 Turbo DI
- 04/2011 brandnew 911

hope this makes it clearer!

L@rs

But facelift next September??
So...997 MKII from September 07 to April 08, without DFI?
September 07...345 Carrera, 375 Carrera S. And then in April with DFI?

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Guys - I guess the car will be in Geneva in Spring - what do you guess. I cant believe they bring it in September on the IAA. I mean - all pictures are speaking for it, but there are to many noises around 2008, so spring 2008 at Geneva would make perfect sense to me.

Can someone remember how it was with the 996 facelift. Has this car been shown in Frankfurt or in Geneva...

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

IAA Sept 2001. But photos, before, 23-07-01.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

i vote for Geneva 2008 too..

Frankfurt in September of this year is for 997 Turbo cabrio and 997 GT2

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Frankfurt - GT2 with PDK!
Geneva - 997 Mk2

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

I'd be super annoyed to find my brand new 997 targa is getting a facelift so soon.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

I understand you very well..i hate this kind of thing..
Targa was launched November 2006..6 months ago..and now we see pictures of restyling..horrible..

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

I can't believe it's four more years of the 997 - that would make it a longer run than the 964, 993, and 996...

This one will be coming to us soon - its bound to debut at the IAA on Sep 07; its the most important show for Porsche and for 07 with the Cayenne facelift coming in February they have nothing else in their cupboard for the IAA. Probably not available for delivery until this time next year so you have another year of current 997's to go. As for letting customers down its all a bit academic; they make superlative cars and we will continue to buy them; it really is that simple. Volume wise the update will have little impact on recent 997 family members - you can bet your bottom dollar that the GT3's will be left unchanged and as for the Targa, well they sold 5000 996's of that variant and in the UK some dealers don't even have an allocation for 07 - the entire allocation for all of the 5 Greater London area dealers (the ones owned by PAG directly) for 07 is 7, yes, seven, cars. Ditto for the Turbo; its an 18 month wait list right now and I dont think anyone buying one of those will give two hoots about this update. A 2008 MY also plays well with the forward looking calendar; 2009 wil be dominated by the Panamera with 2010, '11 and '12 taken up by a new 928, new Cayenne and 998 - but probably not in that order.

respect due. thats a man's first post!

i think you're right. great, well-presented analysis. also, the copy that accompanies the targa pics on worldcarfans.com also supports the Frankfurt
debut of the 997 revisions with a MY2008 roll out. thanks.

This analysis with presentation this autumn but delivery not before spring 2008 would combine the two current theories when we will acutally will see the facelift.

Re: Facelift timeline

Rossi,

did they ever introduce a face-lift (or a new model) in the middle of a production MY??

Re: Facelift timeline

The Cayenne facelift with DI engines came feb. 07 as a MY 2008.

Best from Spain

Re: Facelift timeline

Porsche has been testing the face lifted 911 for close to a year now and I'm pretty damn sure they'll have presented the face lifted by the end of the year. With people taking delivery early next year.

Re: Facelift timeline

what about the GT3 and RS?

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

I think Porsche has made a huge mistake this time.
How can they only think about it to refresh the traga or turbo in the next future?
With the 996 Models they have got it right. Since Turbo was already with the new lights shape, and a year later the brought the 996 facelift with the targa version. So they should have made the turbo alreay with the new backlight design, and of course also the targa since its out.
Those costumers must feel f*** up, and lets dont talk about the resale value...

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Agree, agree.
At the Leipzig AMI 2007 Motorshow, 14th to 22th of april 2007 (just now), they are showing the "brand new" Targa 4S.
Meanwhile we see spyshots of the facelifted model -- they crossed the red line, doing this.

Best from Spain

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

yeah, they crossed the red line, but i think the "old" one looks much better.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

I love these cars; nothing else really compares , but that's terrible. Porsche relies on brand loyalty but does not return that loyalty to the customer. Good business is one thing. Screwing the customer that just bought their new prize is another. I believe these things will come back to haunt Porsche sometime in the future.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Porsche is doing like they always do.

No facelift is due in 2007 (MY08) but will be in 2008 (MY09). The Targa model will be on the market for about 2 years at that time.
Also the facelift is not such a big issue for a current Targa owner since Turbo , GT3 and upcoming GT2 will have the same styled rear lights. It will not become an "old" car I believe.

And the info from the D.I. system supplier makes sense for a MY09 launch. Porsche needs some basic inventory for sure, even with the JIT system. Pre-production cars will be build sooner , hence the 04/08 production date of the DI system.

Press photo's will be given out around April / Mai , world premiere at the Paris Auto Show.
That's what I think and seems logic.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

I wish that you are correct, but deep down I don't think so. I spoke to my dealer in London and He stated that he will give me a call so that I could spec my car in May. The facelift is coming out in Sept 07 trust me on this ! Porsche are not obliged in anyway to please their customers, it's either you buy thier car or you get something else ! This is the reason they don't give discounts on new cars. For the press to be able to have a glimpse of the facelift means that the car is ready to be rolled out. No car manufacturer will allow pictures of their upcoming car to be seen 12 months before release, I'm sure this we all know.
I agree that it is a hard stone to swallow for people who have just bought c2s,c4s and so on, but Porsche have to keep up with the competition i.e the v8 vantage, M3 etc. Some people have said on the forum that these carsare not competition for Porsche since they are heavier cars and don't handle well.Unfortunately Porsche doesn't look at it in that way, the V8 vantage will still a few customers who like the looks of a Vantage than the handling of a 911, some may say that the power in a M3 is more than a 911S and so on.
So guys expect the release of the facelift in sept 07 with LEDs, 20-25 more hp and DI. PDK I'm not sure of, my guess is that Porsche will leave PDK for the 998 if it is called that.

Agree with all above except the PDK-introduction..Maybe we won't see PDK with the facelift in autumn this year, but surely in 2008 the first Porsches with PDK will be delivered (and I mean 997, not only Boxster/Cayman).

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

If they give all cars a 20-25hp hike then the new carrera will be only 5hp less than the old carrera S. This will leave current S owners feeling very sore that they have paid for an S when they could get the same power for far less now.

Me included - my new 997S is due 3rd week of May - my dealer has categorically assured me that the power and facelift will not be until Spring 2008 at the earliest. I will be not only p*ssed off if the facelift is only 2 months after my car, but also demanding compensation as he knows I would have waited if he had said another other than the promise he gave me.

I suspect it will be more like 10-15hp to avoid this situation and based upon what Ive been told not for another 12 months yet at that.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Adam25, I feel for you, but I don't think you will get a single point dscount because they rolled out a new model after you bought the car.

Current owners should not be emotional about Porsche screwing their value. They didn't screw your value. You have an awesome car today and guess what, it will still be an awesome car tomorrow.
