RC:Whoopsy:I just took the RS out tonight on a cold and wet, quite wet night. First time in the wet.
I have to say, the Dunlops are night and day better than the Cup2s on these occasions.The extra groves on the tires makes a but different in wet traction, evacuating waters much better than the Cup2s.
It's actually really cool to see water spraying out from the front fender vents.
Be careful. If one of these tires looses grip...bye bye.

Don't worry, I do drive with plenty of respect to the cars' potential, they are all high powered machines that needs to be careful with.
They really are quite a step up from the Cup2 for wet traction which I had plenty of experiences driving in the rain on the Speciale and the 918. They didn't hydroplane through puddles that I know the Cup2s will. Obviously I didn't try that on the curves, it's just straight lines,

Interesting impressions on the Dunlops - thanks Whoopsy. I was planning to ditch them when done and go to the Cup 2s (had nothing but Michelins for the last few years). I wonder if maybe sticking with the Dunlops might be better for me now.

One of the advantages of a car with adjustable ride height, such as the GT3 models have, is that you can ........... adjust the ride height. Raising the car a few mm should alleviate this problem.
Particularly if it was initially caused by the owner having lowered the suspension post-delivery anyway.

Just realised that this post refers back to the same guy we read about in an earlier post who had specifically said that he had the car lowered before going to the track.
There's hardly a case for expecting a manufacturer to recall cars to fix a problem which only arises if they are modified by the customer.

All depends on your needs. Where I live it rains a lot, so the better wet traction is more useful to me.
Initially when I saw my car came with the Dunlops, I was planning the same thing, run them down then switch to Cup2s. But now that I had experienced them in the wet, I might stick to them.

Guys,yesterday afternoon i had the opportunity to make some laps with a empty track at Franciacorta,a good friend(professional driver) made me this gift.
I make some laps,and some drift tests with him that teach me...hahahah
i can tell that on the way back to home,i was smiling again alone in the car,what a day!
now there is the problem that i whant to go again on a track only if there are no other cars in,and will be not so easy!
With the car stock(not lowered) no problems of tyres that hit mudguards etc. and is damn fast,and easy to drive at the limit,also when you loose grip due to an error,is easy to understand the reaction the car will have.
I'm really happy,this car is great!

TRAKCAR (pics of the ultra violet car above) reports to have 3° camber on the front axle. Due to this the blinkers popped out.
On my previous 997 GT3 RS, I had 3.2° camber on the front and I never had the blinkers popping out!
The GT3 RS is made and adjustable for the track. It is a TRACKCAR and positioned as such by Porsche. It is unacceptable that such issues occur when you start to adjust things to have the right level of performance on track.
This never happened on previous GT3 RS models and Porsche should quickly find the right solution to this issue.
I don't want to move to another brand, but such issues are simply not acceptable on a 200K euro car made for the track.

GoHardGT3RS:Lambo Superleggera works well on track too (one of my friends I drive trackdays with has one).
I would give away some camber to avoid to have a car falling apart...
I'm a little surprised that the 991 GT3 RS's handling benefits from that much front wheel camber. Do you generally run on some Mickey Mouse circuit which is all curves and no straights to call for that setting?

Never on a previous RS had Porsche put as big a tire package on the car, those 918 tires barely fit front and rear, what do you expect?
Do you want Porsche to go back to the smaller tire package of the GT3? In those sizes no matter how extreme the settings are, you won't rub. That would be the only solution, which me as a RS owner will not accept. I'd rather leave the alignment and settings alone instead.
Alternatively, just take out the front fender linings, that will take car of the rubbing problem.
