For the money there is no better car on the road than the TTS period NO IF's AND OR BUTS. That said, the R8 Spyder would be a different and unique car with limited production. It has German engineering, quality and reliability.
So if you want value with unsurpassed performance go with the TS. If you want something new, fresh and excellent performance the R8 is a winner.
Personally I would go with the R8, like nberry said it is a very unique and different car. If your not tracking the car you will never feel the difference, of the TTS's superior performance. Plus, everyone has a turbo especially in south Florida. R8 all the way.

very different cars i think.
personally, i would not go for a 997 t this point s the 991 is more or less around the corner.
the way porsche has been going recently, i think we can expect quite a lot in terms of technological advances in even the base 991 series.
it seems tht porsche is really back on track under piiech and we can expect the 991 turbo to be at the very top of the food chain when it is released in about 3 years from now.
the r8 is a great looking car and surely a great car to own/drive. audi quality with supercar looks.
you did not specify if 8 or 10 cylinder r8 ?
in terms of performance, both won't match the turbo s numbers.

I agree with you on almost evrything. And im pretty sure the R8 spyder is only available as a V10 so far.

Spyder is only available with V10. So Lambo engine with 525 hp with exotic looks which is served with Audi quality.

Convertibles are supposed to be for fun, not drag racing. Crazy to go to fast in one. As a US based member you can get these.
Coming soon to chebby dealer near you the All-new Camaro SS convertible;
With much better sound than either of the other choices and better looks too, that's your fun convertible!! With a little exhaust modding and even engine tuning $50K for 500+hp.
then for 25K pick up a classic 1967 Lincoln convertible for going to dinner in on a summer night;
you still have 75K left so put 50 away for a Tesla Model S and 25K in the bank.
