ISUK:
I think it's more a case that the Balboni was launched onto the market at an incredibly unfortunate time and Lamborghini foolishly expected buyers to pay more for "less" with the RWD car. Had they priced it below the AWD 560-4 then sales would most likely have been better. I don't think the AWD version is exactly flying out of dealers showrooms either at present judging by the number that are currently for sale with virtually delivery miles.
Agreed.
IMHO problem for Gallardo LP560-4 and LP550-2 is R8 V10. I drove all three and IMHO R8 V10 is by faar the best of three overall. Also, R8 V10 currently sits on second position on my current sportscars top list, sharing a place with 997.2 Turbo. 458 Italia is first.
As Sport Auto Supertest clearly pointed out R8 V10 is faster on the track then LP560-4 and marginally slower in straight line acceleration. Audi learned a lot from Gallardo development and R8 V10 is a better car.
LP570-4 SL will be faster, just... In autumn 2010 Audi will introduce R8 V10 GT-100kg lighter version with full 560ps. I already know that R8 V10 GT is faster car on both Hockenheim and Nordschleife then LP570-4 SL...
...and cheaper also.
Gallardo in all its current versions is good choice only for die hard Lambo fans.
