    Stradale,

I suspect your calendar for release of the 997 variants is accurate. My heart is set on the TSCab, and I hope she is released before fall of 2006, so I can still enjoy her with the top down while the good weather still holds. Where I live in upstate New York State, we get 100 inches of lake effect snow and 6 months of winter a year, usually by November.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if even the TT Coupe base price broached $140K, and the TSCab might go north of $150K.

Current base price of the TT Coupe is $118,400 so that's an 18% jump. Yikes.

here's another interesting thing about the picture.

It's a stock 997 carrera [ non - s ], if you look again at the picture, you'll see it's impossible for the shaddow of the exhausts to be where they are at the bottom of the picture.

It's a bit confusing to explain but look carefully at the shadow at the bottom.

Also the way the lil wing under the real wing shows clear signs that its a photoshop.. the line coming down from the window almost seems to go through the added wing!

Can't say much about the DSG right now (apparently there are some issues with it, it may need more time) but I also recently heard 480 HP for the 997 Turbo. I expect anything between 480-490 HP, any power figure below that would be very disappointing. Especially since the weight seems to increase by around 40-60 kg.

Re: 997 Turbo, latest news from Athens dealer

    3,600 lbs total ???

Re: 997 Turbo, latest news from Athens dealer

TT coupe won't cost 140k, maybe about 120 ish (out of the door). For 140k why would anyone get the porsche TT?-- somenoe can simply get an aston or a bentley at that point- or a used ferrari. I think porsche needs to let out some pics of the TT 997..

That's very disappointing to hear RC, I don't understand why it's taking Porsche this long to introduce a sequential gearbox. Ferrari and BMW have had them for years and Porsche now is the only major sports car brand without them. I would really appreciate more information on this issue.

Killer, I think people would still pay 140k for a ttcab (I would), it's still one fastest cars in its class and Astons and Bentleys(!) are not exactly much competition in the sporty department.

Given that 430 Spider prob weighs in at about 3500 lbs (upon independent weighing, not factory claims), despite F's primitive airbag/safety systems/structures, 3600 lb for a 997TTS w/AWD, PSM and modern airbag systems/crash structures doesn't sound out-of-line w/weight of comparable cars.....

Isn't $118.4K base for an '04 996TT Coupe w/415 hp and steel brakes (which have now been handed down to std 997S)? Have to adjust comparable price for the ?65ish added hp of 997TT, PCCB 2.0, e-diff and poss DSG.....and let's not forget how much Euro has appreciated vs dollar from 8/03 (when '04 996TT was released) and when P's FX hedges start rolling off..... ....and, if 997S' resale value and tight supply/demand balance to-date is any indication, perhaps P is trying to firm up resale values on its higher-line cars to allow stiffer MSRP pricing.....

Re: 997 Turbo, latest news from Athens dealer

Hehe, this is getting more and more like the previous speculations about the new C4S before it came out earlier this year. They were all pretty wrong

    Bluelines,

My pessimism re. TT pricing is intentional "reverse psychology" so that if the true list prices come under that estimate I'll be just a little bit gratified.

Hehe, that is a good strategy. But then you should not expect more that 430hp, no DSG, no new 4WD system, no Turbo look just C4 widebody, etc

I am afraid this will turn out the same as with the new C4S. Everyone expected an evolved 996 C4S also as 997, that never happened and most people on this forum seemed disappointed (although I think most people changed their mind now and the 996 C4S look is feeling more dated). So for the new Turbo, everyone expects a 996 super Turbo (especially based on that stupid pic from AM&S which probably looks nothing like the new Turbo). But I guess that is what we are here for, speculation, excitment and expectation

DSG is not just any sequential gearbox - it's a completely diffrent ball game. If they get it right it will knock socks of the competition's equivalent - I suspect the main problem is the handling of the torque. Audi had this problem when they introduced the DSG gearbox on the Audi TT - it couldn't handle more than around 250lb ft - I seem to remember there being discussions that the gearbox would need to get a lot heavier to handle any more torque than this.

Thats what I thought too until they came out with the final specs of VW's Bugatti Veyron, its has a 7-speed dual-clutch (DSG) sequential but the Veyron develops 920 lb-ft or torque so they must of gotten around the initial torque limitations and by a long margin!

Personally I wouldn't but a first year production DSG, or PDK, as Porsche may call it.

Re: 997 Turbo, latest news from Athens dealer

Porsche should just fit that bad boy onto the 997tt

Absolutely bluelines, I definitely want the 997TT/TS/TCab/TSCab to be loaded with 500+ HP, higher power-to-weight ratio, updated AWD system-although I don't need the DSG. And a higher sale price with all these innovations won't deter me either. So yes I would not rather have a 997"turbolite" (sorry turbolite, didn't mean to offend your alias ) at a discounted price. Heck, I'd pay PAG extra $$$ if they'd release those babies before next summmer.
