"There is no substitute"....quote from where?

It just dawned on me, that my old favourite teen chewinggum movie, "Risky Business" may have provided my favourite car brand their unofficial payoff..
Is this really true?
Is "Porsche- there is no substitute" the Tom Cruise quote, or did he merely quote the original Porsche slogan at the time?

I was watching this movie with my girlfriend about 3 weeks ago (first time seeing it) and she said...just wait to the dock scene. Man was i nervous! I love the Porsche poster in his room though. Anyone remember the 928 in Scarface?

Did u ever see the movie, Mike?...or were you beyond the target audience back then?

It's a classic, cheesy, platitudinal and all-round stereotypical teenage flick, but it also has its moments...and of course Tom Cruise.
I remember it with great fondness...although back then Rebecca De Mornay switched on other buttons of mine than the "fondness" button

Even Tom's awkward, adolescent voice made us all relate...aaah, those teen years. Pimples, pubic hair and Porsches. And of course the fourth, unmentionable "P"

The "I'll borrow my dad's Porsche...and drive it into the lake" scenario was actually copied by a classmate of mine a couple of years later, when he "borrowed" his dad's brandnew Jag (and believe me, it was new), took a girl out for a romantic stroll in the forrest...forgot to pull the handbrake...and had to get a towtruck to pull it out of the local lake.

One of their marketing headlines from the eighties was "Kills Bugs Fast"

Yes, ... I saw the movie. I think my wife and I rented it from Blockbuster when we had seen all the other recent releases of the time.

I don't know if I was the target audience or not. But, I did watch it on my home system.
