    I have heard from a reliable source, that actual Cayman S pictures will be released around the middle of May! Revvv

    I believe the official release to the press is May 23. Anyone know if pricing will be available then....or just pictures?

    If it's anything like the 987, then they'll release the basic car price on the day, but not provide many details on the standard specification or the price of any options. I know that Porsche GB have already got a database up and running of people with letter of intentions in at their dealers. So expect a teaser brochure through the post on the 23rd, accompanied by a letter asking for a Pounds1000 deposit to stay in the queue.

    When I spoke to the dealer last month they told me the Cayman S would not be more than Pounds44k inc vat. They also said the official order book opens in May, I guess when the photos are released and the car will be on the road in the UK in late Nov.

    Ive already put my Pounds1000 deposit down in December and I have to Ok if I want to go ahead with it. I guess I would be a very early receiver of it. I was also told it would be Pounds43000 at that time.

    The OPC should not have asked you to place any deposit It is against the "rules" for them to ask for a deposit on a car that doesn't officially exist. I'm sure Porsche Cars GB would be interested to hear about this.

    I was also quoted a Pounds43k list price, although that is apparently a very basic spec, much like the boxster S. Unlikely to have 19" as standard or PASM, which is a real shame , porsche need to give buyers more than just a larger engine to justify an approximate Pounds5k price differential.

    I tried to give my dealer a deposit in May of '04.....they turned it down as officially the car didn't exist. I checked with them every month until they accepted it in Sept. as by then news of it had leaked to the dealers, so they accepted it at this time. No problem with me.

    My official contact at Porsche told me July for the pictures, Francfort Motor Show for the presentation and October/November for the commercial launch in Europe ..... which would make it early 2006 for the US.

    Porsche West London have pretty bad customer service from my experience... but I guess you could ask them to move the deposit for a 997 GT3 or Turbo?

    NOW THAT THE U.S. IS BY FAR THE LARGEST MARKET MY SOURCE SAYS THE CAR WILL BE RELEASED IN THE US IN OCTOBER.
