    Vessel arrival dates

I just received a list of the upcoming ships coming to the USA with Porsches on board.
ONVESL Date- Vessel- Arrival Port- ETA
3/16- Capricomus Leader- San Diego- 4/16
3/31- Pioneer Leader- San Diego- 4/18
4/5- Phoenix Leader- San Diego- 4/28
    4/6- Sea Venus- Baltimore- 4/14

Hope this helps you figure out when your car might arrive. With PDI and the wire transfer dealers must make before your car is released, you should probably allow about a week before your car is shipped from the port. Then it just a matter of how long it takes on the truck from the port to your dealer.

How do you get this information? Just wondering, its pretty interesting.

I was able to track down the vessel my car was loaded on by process of elimination. I think Porsche only uses two steamhip lines with one of them being Volkswagen Transportation (VWT). So, I checked the Port of San Diego website for upcoming arrivals and figured out the ship by the due date (about 20 days from Germany to San Diego), the commodity (automobiles), the operator of the vessel (VWT) and finally who it was going to (Pasha). Pasha handles the unloading in San Diego for Porsche.

So, I knew the ETA for my ship about a week earlier than my Porsche dealer. Today they faxed me a sheet that shows all the current ships coming to the USA and that is where I got additional info that I included in my message.

It was kind of fun to track down the info on my own.

    Re: Vessel arrival dates

My dealer as of last Friday still did not know the ship name and promised to provide th ename by Mon or Tuesday but we sure knew from last Wed (3/31) which boat was carrying our cars. That goes to show you the communication the car dealers use amonth themselves. It reminds me of when we had to load a 5.25" disk into the computer to load Wordperfect.

    Re: Vessel arrival dates

Pretty cool. Thanks. So Porsche's are on the sea for about 20 days?

If the ship is coming to San Diego it takes around 20 days. If it is going to Baltimore it is closer to 7 days.

    Detective Phil,
When I get my ONVESL Date I'm going to ask for your help.

Here is a photo of Port of Emden Germany

For those of you who want to see where your car boarded the ship.

Re: Here is a photo of Port of Emden Germany

    Nice picture Phil.
BTW, how is the wait effecting your health? couple more weeks and it over, ha?

Just got a call from my saleman. He said that program that required the wire transfer of funds before releasing the car at the port is over with. He said this will speed up the arrival of cars by several days. With our ship arriving on Monday 4/18, he thinks I could see my car by Friday.

I also sold my current 996 to my brother-in-law, so that issue is out of my hair. He wants it by the end of this week, so the timing is nearly perfect. I may have to drive the extra car for a few days.

    Getting close now.......

    Phil

Re: Here is a photo of Port of Emden Germany

Oh WOW, This is a great news Phil. I just knew this will not last. I will call up my dealer tomorrow to confirm t hey have received the same message. We should see our car's by end of next week. Count down begins.
I hate selling cars as well but It is just one less thing to worry about.

Re: Here is a photo of Port of Emden Germany

The arrival date for the ship has just been showing the date with no time of day. Today that changed and it now shows an ETA of 6AM on Monday. Here is how it shows at the Port of San Diego website:
"Pioneer Leader 04/18 06:00 04/18 16:00 Emden, Germany 24-04 Disc Automobile, Local PASHA PSH VWT PA"

So, we may have cars by the end of next week!

    Phil

Re: Here is a photo of Port of Emden Germany

you are a hell of a spy

Re: Here is a photo of Port of Emden Germany

Pretty exciting time for you guys... Looking forward to your photos and impressions

Re: Here is a photo of Port of Emden Germany

Phil, I noticed the same about the arrival time which is nice. My dealer will call the port and request to expedite delivery next Tuesday. We probably see our cars between Friday and Monday. I am Counting hrs now. This is so painful
I have on hand the clear side markers, Hard top storage cart is on order and due next week, Silverguard Car cover waiting in parts dep, and Porsche Sport Exhaust is on order but will not know the arrival until next week. They will install the PSE for $2400 and same as factory.
Leong, you are right. I have never been so hyped up about a car.

Re: Here is a photo of Port of Emden Germany

    PS CA awesome work...

I am in San Francisco and I got a message from my dealer that the ship would dock on the 18th could mine be on the same ship?

The "local - PS" was on my order sheet too... aaarrggghhh I dying from the wait.

    The ship has been delayed.......

The Pioneer Leader that was due into San Diego 6am on 4/18 now shows an arrival time of 6pm. So, we are losing a day. That may eliminate the chance of getting the cars this week. I sold my 996 yesterday, so I have no way of getting my Porsche fix at the moment.

It is beginning to look like Monday 4/25 at the earliest.

    Phil

Re: The ship has been delayed.......

Oh my, somebody should teach the folks at the port military time.

Re: The ship has been delayed.......

Okay PS CA, any chance that you know when or which ship, that left Germany on 4/14 is due into Baltimore? My sales guy says it's due 4/25 but that sounds too long given your prior posts that say the transit time to Baltimore is approx. 7 days. I think the dealership is trying to hedge on the arrival date so they can use that as an excuse for missing the delivery date of "sometime in April".

Anyway, if you happen to have current info on floating vessels that left on 4/14 for Baltimore, I'd greatly appreciate it. My new baby is on one, and I'm just about at the end of my rope. Thanks.

Re: The ship has been delayed.......

The Atlantic Companion left Bremerhaven on 14/4/05 and is due in Baltimore on 28/4/05. If you have your VIN, you can go to www.wlna.com, go to cargo tracking, and find your car if its being carried by this line. Wallenius Wilhelmsen carries some cars to the East Coast USA, then thru to NZ, AUST and SE Asia.

I think this is the ship you are looking for:

Origin Port Departure Destination Port Arrival Vessel Voyage Transit(Days)

    BREMERHAVEN 14/04/2005 BALTIMORE, MD 28/04/2005 ATLANTIC COMPANION 5270-ACN 14

Looks like it is due in on 4/28. I was earlier told that the voyage to the East Coast was around 7 days, but it appears from the ships I checked on tonight that it takes 11 to 14 days. That is surprising since it only takes about 20 days to go from Germany to San Diego via the Panama Canal.

The most recent west coast ship has arrived....

Here is the info from the Port of San Diego website:

Pioneer Leader 04/18 19:06 04/19 16:00 TBN 24-04 Disc Automobile, Local PASHA PSH VWT PA

So it arrived at 7:06pm last night and will finish unloading by 4pm today. This should be about the first ship to arrive here with 997 cabs (except for the launch cars). My dealer is expecting to get many cars from this ship. Cars should start arriving in western dealers by the first part of next week.

    Phil

Re: The most recent west coast ship has arrived....

    can't wait -_-

Re: The most recent west coast ship has arrived....

Yep, my dealer syas expect to see the car this Saturday or Monday evening. My gut feel says next Wed. We shall see. Getting real close though.

Re: The most recent west coast ship has arrived....

I can't believe you guys are still waiting on your cars. 2k5c2scab got his cab a week ago. Lucky advantage being on the East Coast I guess.

It also helps that the vessel his car was on left Germany almost 2 weeks before ours. Looking at the latest sailings, it appears that ships to the west coast take about 20 days and ships to the east coast take 11 to 14 days. Some cabs have arrived to dealerships in the eastern half of the USA, just not to the west yet. This ship (Pioneer Leader) should have the first group, supposedly followed by another ship before the end of the month.

The ship has left the port.............

The ship has departed San Diego as of 4/19 @ 21:55 hours. So, today they should be able to start the PDI process on the discharged cars.

If none of our cars encounter any snags they should be through the PDI process within a couple of days.

    Phil

Re: The most recent west coast ship has arrived....

I thought his car left at the same time. Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong about something........today.
Bet you're chompin at the bit. Hopefully you'll have your car by the weekend. Please put in pics when you have a chance.
