thanks rc. i've been thrilled with the beast pretty much since the day (minute) i got it
ben, it needs a good, experienced and passionate driver to be able to really appreciate the CGT. Congrats, I wish I would be able to own a CGT too.

No problem. A new CGT in the US is being discounted close to 10% off MSRP. Factor in the strength of the Euro dollar, that is an additional 30% off. So if my math is correct, you can get one for about $303,000. Go for it!

Nick, MSRP is $448.3K. Your math is off. The only new car you personally know about that actually sold at a disc too MSRP was closer to 7% off which is in line with most new Pcar discounts. Given this is about all the profit there is in a CGT for a dealer (including the holdback), my bet is Porsche is rebating the dealers some money. Incidentally, that 7 to 8% off figure is as cheap as I've seen any new GTs go for.

Ben on another site a person claims to have paperwork for a new CGT for $390,000 which he subsequently turned down reasoning that he probably could get one in a few months for close to $350,000.

Good way to get burned if the price trend turns around.

Sounds like trying to short-sell securities.

It will be the supercar to have for the real "drivers" that can afford a supercar, and just want a supercar to drive it and enjoy it period. It will separate the drivers from the poseurs, just check back in a couple of years and see the milages of the CGTs vs the other supercars.

I think the problem was the initial easy availability for such a small market and the press. My guess is it will turn around when all CGT's are delivered to their owners and people start to find out that the negative press it got (clutch, etc.) was mistaken or simply get a ride in one (like Les).
That will take a while, as there is a thread right now on fchat where supposed car enthusiasts are completely clueless about the CGT. I for one am glad that they have built "so many", because that ensures that i will get to ride with some and see + hear such a phenomenal machine. I have already been to a ride where a cgt participated.
I'm sure that owners like mike and ben will smile all the same even when they realize that they fit in their seats better because their wallets are thinner. It is the only street car i have experienced that doesn't sound like a car.
If any car is worth the $$$ then this is the one;

I genuinely hope you are right. It is a terrific car for the right type of person. It is not a car for a speculator (after all it is a Porsche) but a serious driver enthusiast.
