It's coming from the false combustions. When you activate the LC, the electronic system limits the injection and sparks to decrease the power, limiting the lost of grip.
What you hear are the combustions happening in the exhaust for the fuel lost in the operation, and "burning" in the exhaust.

just to clarify, the term RoW is frequently used in car communities since in many cases, USA laws force a manufactuerer to modify the cars in order to sell them here, and when the differences are numerous enough, its time to start categorizing them as US cars or RoW
