Glad to have my 73 911 running again

Been many years since I snapped my crankshaft.  Glad to have it put back together again with new (used, but not tracked) magnesium crankcase, custom billet crankshaft and conrods with oversized bearings, etc.).

Cant keep myself from driving it (ready for 1,000 mile service with first valve adjust and torque the cylinder heads).

    Nice car Grant. wink

Re: Glad to have my 73 911 running again

Nice to see it out and about!  My first 911 was a 2.7 although a 77 so it sucked resources as it pulled apart and also once caught fire due to the air of and a cold morning. It should have dissuaded me forever but NO. It is a sickness but fun !
    Enjoy

    lovely !

Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you.

Re: Glad to have my 73 911 running again

Thanks, guys.  The aluminum strips on the Lexan rear window give it structure and keep it from deforming with winds at high speeds:

Yeah, really been enjoying it.  Much more visceral than GT3 (but they making a fun pair for alternating back and forth - anxious to try that at the track where they charge by the driver so multiple cars costs the same $102).

It was a little chilly (45F), but felt good in the sun.  Smiley

And I do have heat and defrost with the SSI Heat Exchangers (not much power loss compared to true racing headers with a 2.7L).

Gonna be in the 60F's tomorrow - more driving to come Smiley

So great to hear Grant! I had been wondering lately why we didn’t hear about your 73! I though you were being busy with the GT3. Enjoy in good health mate, and looking forward to hearing your stories about it.

Thanks guys!  Yes, it's a pretty intense experience to drive - the sound is pretty awesome inside the car (lots of intake noise from the 6 throttle butterflies and velocity stack behind your head (and you see the engine in the rear view mirror and can see the throttle respond to the pedal).

I am grateful that you share your enthusiasm on RT - I do not dare to improve or change anything on my car though, but it is still very interesting to listen to what is possible. On a more funny note: When parking, do you actually secure your car with heavy weights to prevent it floating away ??? Smiley  Keep the stories coming ! Smiley

Even at 1900, it would be fun. Not sure whether the the light car can withstand a high speed crash.
