F12 TDF (along with the FXXK) is by far the best Ferrari design in the last years since the Pininfarina's days. And yours crayphile is one of the finest examples out there (cherry on the cake. I'd have it spec'ed it in a very subtle silver).

The tdf looks amazing but driving the car is a completely different story. I had the chance to drive it once and I wasn't sure if I love or hate it. It reminded me a lot of my former Shelby GT500, amazing power but not really a car you want to push on a public road. Would I want to own one? Of course! Beautiful looking car, great sound, amazing n/a engine, what is not to like but I wouldn't want to be this my only car, too challenging.

RC, you are too familiar with 4WD setup - time to level up the game and coming back to real man's car Smiley

    Simple summary.

812 Superfast is the grown-up, refined version of the F12.

TdF is the drunken, high on drugs version of the F12.

That would implicate that the F12 is the better/purer drivers car to the 812. I didn't feel it that way, after admittedly very brief testdrives. The F12 feels less in control of its power, but not sharper.

When I had mine I already said the car already feels like it has too much power for RWD only.

Ferrari actually tamed that traction part with even more power on the 812.

Smiley I admit it, I love AWD and it provides certain advantages, especially on public roads Smiley but I had the GT500 and it was a nightmare, I was allover the place with that car, this is fun on a track but not on a public road. Smiley The 911 is a different story, had a 991.2 Carrera 2 Cab (biturbo Boxer), amazing traction, same goes to the 991.2 GT3 I test-drove with my wife but the tdf is not a man's car, it is the car Chuck Norris would drive, if you get my drift. Smiley Smiley

For some further info on the 812, asked one of the journo's at Pistonheads who knows my car history a bit, to see where he places the 812 compared to say a GT3 (from a dynamic standpoint)

Hi Frank! You might be pleased to hear this (or not) but I have spent a couple of days with an 812 SF and I think it's the most exhilarating car on sale today. It drives like a front-engine supercar rather than a traditional GT; super sharp, agile and alert. Which can actually be a bit wearing at points, but you won't want for excitement. I think a GT3 really might be more refined! But yeah, I absolutely adore them.

I also think that V12 is the greatest engine I've ever experienced, and that includes Carrera GT, Lamborghini V12/V10, Mezger, the new Porsche 4.0 and so on. Sensational

In other words, resistance is futile...

At the same time congratulations to my good friend and colleague who's picking his up today. angel

Would you rate the 812 V12 ahead of the F50 V12?

Re: Man Math & Ferrari V12s

I haven't driven an F50 so certainly couldn't rate the engine. I rate the F50 itself above almost anything else though, and the sound for me is the best out there (when uncorked).

Yes. Not surprising given how much engineering development has gone on over the years.

While Im sure the 812 V12 is light years ahead of the F50 V12 in terms of technology, there is still something very special about a detuned F1 engine in a road car.

    TDF vs CGT

Which one would you consider more scary on public road ?

Agreed but that was not the question Smiley.

Re: Man Math & Ferrari V12s

They should put the V12 in the SF90 and sell a limited number of them. Would be a hell of a car.

Re: Man Math & Ferrari V12s

It's a shame that the 812 is so f***ing ugly after how you guys are raving about every single other aspect of the car. I'm not surprised that Ferrari's in house design department produced another aesthetically poor design and screwed all the efforts  of the engineering team. But surprises me a bit more that the board had given green light for such an hideous product.

Same occurs with the Senna. At least in this case and if I'm not wrong, they followed "form follows function" so they were well aware that they were launching a not so eye-catching and "track-focused-for-the-road-though" car.

I'll have almost any other car in their price range and category despite being slower or however. Aesthetics matters (are the 70%? in a road car).
