Monitoring the internet - BS talk and a request
OK, guys, don't get me wrong. We didn't eat the wisdom with a golden spoon over here at Rennteam.com and of course we make mistakes too. But sometimes I'm so surprised to read 100% crap posted on other sites and although the job of the moderators would be to correct such posts or at least to "challenge" them, nothing happens and people start to believe the posts.
I try to give an example: the "infamous" 998. Many people still believe the 997 will be replaced soon by the 998.
This crap isn't only 100% BS, it is also dangerous for Porsche and their products because it could harm sales figures. The 997 just showed up, there will be a 997 GT3 and a 997 Turbo, no 998 in the pipeline for at least the next 4-5 years. So I really don't understand why some people, even some who should know it better, sustain this BS talk.
Another example: some statements that the 987 (Boxster) looks again like the 997 (911). This isn't 100% BS, this is 1000% BS. The funny part is: most people who claim that are from the US and they didn't even have the chance to see the 987 live, simply because it isn't available in the US yet.
Please, I pledge you guys: stop this BS talk. It not only harms Porsche, it can have a serious impact on sales figures and even resale value.
And I urge the moderators and editors of other forums and websites to get more involved in the discussions on their forums to avoid the self-transformation of gossip talk into a fact.
Of course there is freedom of speech and of course everybody can say what he thinks. But when it comes to the truth, I'm a little bit touchy. I know that "sex & crime" sells but we also have a responsibility towards our users and of course towards the cars we love so much.
Thanks for taking your time to read this, even if you don't like what I wrote.
