996FourEss:I don’t think you can look at the tariffs in isolation. The tariffs are there to make the trade more reciprocal, which it has not been for the 40 years (as a deliberate policy of the west ). Big tariffs on Western goods into China, essentially no tariffs on Chinese goods into the West. The West tolerated this because the assumption was geopolitically China would liberalize over time. Agree all economists will say tariffs are bad, but I think the US regime is very open to having zero tariffs both ways and no one wants that....
Exactly my point.
Perversely in the current situation, the tariffs and slowdown in China have caused the RMB to fall, which fall has more or less entirely offset the impact on prices from the tariffs, and so consumers are no worse off. But the fundamental one sided trading regime did need fixing and even the Chinese will acknowledge this behind closed doors...
Economically, Trump makes sense, even if his opponents often say he doesn't. There aren't many economics experts in Germany who say that Trump's request for zero tariffs is a bad move, on the contrary.
Now back to topic before we slip too much into politics.

Why don’t we just say non socialist leaning politics is banned so the mirror does not break. Too funny. No confidence in what’s right or wrong anymore can cause confusion and meltdowns.

Same here, especially since I doubt there are many socialist leaning politics supporters here.
The obvious issue at hand with discussing politics here in the forum is simple and we discussed this many many times: Many people are not mature enough to discuss politics controversially in a civilized and non-emotional manner.
We lost some important users like fritz because of this and while I am disappointed that a mature "sounding" person like fritz would leave the forum because of something he may or may not have liked during the politics discussions, this is human nature, everyone has a weak spot, everyone gets emotional and upset when it comes to certain things, so this is beyond our control. No need to rub this in our face again, we wanted to keep politics around but if people cannot behave like adults and handle different opinions in a civilized manner, there is only one thing to do: To forbid discussing politics. Sad but true.

Okay I get it but if sadly if you hate Trump because of his personality you empower the socialists to take over. They don’t hear that you like his economic ideas they just see any complaint as an endorsement of their ideas. Can’t have your cake and eat it too. Maybe you all don’t witness the utter chaos and idiocy we get from the left here. End of story. I hope you understand that for some of us this silly shit ruins marriages and families. Mostly due to heads in the sand. Not a good time to be fence sitting while the left pretends they have a mandate. Back to cars. I was not trying to argue politics or economics but rather persuasion and psychology. It’s just a viewpoint.

I never said I hated Trump because of his personality. I don't hate him at all. I just think he made some mistakes which are surprising for someone of his financial calibre and business experience:
1. The media: You never go against the media. Not very clever, even if it may have served the purpose to prove to his diehard supporters that the media is after him. Of course the media is after him because he has given the media the opportunity and reasons to do that. The good thing about this is: I guess many people realized by now that there is no unbiased media. In neither corner of the political spectrum.
2. Diplomacy: Being a diplomat, the president is one as well, means that sometimes, you just need to be calm and accept certain things without saying them out loud. You can do that behind closed doors but not in public. I get it, he despises career politicians and diplomats (believe me, I do the same) but if you want them to respect you, you have to trick/outwit them, not insult them.
Yes, Trump is right. The media is after him but unlike George W. Bush, who was in a similar situation, Trump always provoked further instead of trying to let things cool down. I guess Trump wanted to be a little bit like Ronald Reagan but Reagan was a media pro, he was an actor, he knew how to create emotions and how to play public reaction to his advantage. He was pretty witty as well, he knew how to handle the media and people respected him often, even if they hated him. Trump always had a reputation problem and he could have improved his reputation in various ways but instead he ignored his advisors and tried to literally push with his head through the door(s). Sometimes, you need to know when to stop and listen.
So no, I do not hate Trump, I just think that he made some mistakes, out of inexperience of course but also because his big ego made him to. I just hope that he will learn from his mistakes but the current impeachment dramedy won't help I'm afraid.
This isn't a political post, just fact finding. I apologize if someone feels offended, it wasn't my intention.

I never never meant to imply that RC hates Trump. He has an exceptionally balanced view. I was referring to some who do and don’t realize some dangerous outcomes related to that. And I care about you guys. I too have life experiences and this is far more important than politics
quick non political breakdown of prejudice
prejudice - always results in a negative emotion or hate. This is by definition based on irrational conclusions generally due to group think or social pressures. The smarter you think you are the less susceptible you believe you are yet your prejudice against things or people are not based on much solid fact (else 100% would see it) so you seek out any confirmation you can and lash out at opposing views. If the reasoning was not ‘prejudged’ and less based on social pressure etc then the argument or discussion would be far less charged.
finally - if the vast majority of the population (Nick and I can quibble all day about numbers) don’t see it at all and in fact see the opposite then the most positive view of the person or situation is the reality. Pretty simple. We are not talking about dislike, I mean downright irrational hate or fear like racists have. Time will always tell. It’s a fascinating time we live in. Do pay attention to who is actually trying to stir things up and cause panic and fear.
That’s my two cents. The world is far less dangerous and hate based as we are led to believe. I choose to look for agreement and harmony. Which is see far more of than not. Cheers and happy thanksgiving!🦃
nberry:The majority of the people in the US feel that way.
The majority? Have you done a poll or something?
In times of political correctness, people seldom tell the truth, especially when asked by reporters or in certain family/friends circles. Nobody wants to be ousted as a right wing nut job or whatever, so they hide what they really think. In Germany, nobody I talk to votes with the German right wing AfD but surprisingly, they gained a lot over the past couple of years (like I predicted, remember?). So if nobody votes for them, how are they that strong?

As arrogant as this may sound: You don't. We can talk about this when we meet personally, RT is not the place to discuss stuff like this. My personal experience is not a private one (I wish) but based on something you certainly haven't experienced yourself and trust me, it is very enlightening (and sometimes shocking too) to understand what is really going on in the world (of politics and diplomacy) out there and how lies and deceit are part of the politics game because this is how it (I guess) always was. I'm not trying to spread any conspiracy theories here, god forbid but I am trying to make you understand that what you read, see and hear in the media is only half the story of what is going on "out there". I had seven years to compare the media stories with the "real" story I knew first hand and I can tell you that the media and public know squat.
Remember the Wikileaks documents made public with the US diplomatic cables and everything and the world was shocked? Oh well, this was nothing. There are two worlds: Our world, the suckers and the world of politics, the "real" world. You only get that if you were part of this and I cannot say I am proud. More when we talk privately, it will be entertaining, I promise.

But honestly. here you don't need political experience etc. It is a question of what our parents taught us as a kid. If people (politicians or normal people) constantly attack other people, threaten them, insult them etc. this is totally unacceptable to many people on this planet.
Let me quote Michael Bloomberg: I know a con when I see one
I agree...insulting, threatening, etc. is not a way to do politics...in public (you would be surprised how even the most diplomatic politicians talk once the cameras are off and/or the public isn't present). I told you before: I am not a fan of Trump as an individual but I guess this is something we need to discuss in private, Markus.
We should stop talking politics before we have to ban ourselves.

Perhaps you are confusing both cause and effect and who is actually doing the intimidation and threats. For as long as I have been watching the left has been intimidating, intolerant and running the con. As witnessed by the endless attacks on an elected president and his supporters. I have seen a president react, finally, to the lefts criminal actions and love it.
