    (I know the E55 understeer severely and is in no way a track car before anyone starts criticising)

    Nice video.
    On this case, the understeer has much more to do with the driver than the car.

    Agreed. ALL Mercedes understeer because its the safest form of handling, and you know how Mercedes feels about safety. The thing is, when you're taking a 2 ton 700NM@2700rpm tyre-shredding monster which understeers naturally onto a track as a novice, then turn ESP off and try to powerslide like an M car, you're playing with fire.

    I beg to differ..its comments like this that prevent Mercedes-AMG from improving their cars handling

    I also disagree with this generalisation. In the hands of someone who knows little about a car's handling oversteer can be counterintuitive. But understeer has its own set of "gotcha's" too. In fact, I watched someone crash on Sunday from understeer.

    The driver (from Sweden?) is just D.U.M.B., nothing more.
    He is lucky he "saved" his car without any harm, however I'm pretty sure that his rear tires were "finished".

    Instead of trying to stabilize the car after the pretty weird approach to that curve (which actually isn't really understeer in my opinion but the result of braking too late and just slipping straight forward), this funny guy keeps his foot fully on the throttle like a maniac.
    He could have stabilized the car pretty easily by just gently reducing throttle and do the rest with the steering.

    I saw such driving style pretty often, I call it the "brainless" driving style. These are people who don't have a real feel for the car and try to stay on the track at any cost by using brutal power and playing around with the steering.

    The art of track driving is not to burn rubber or do spectacular (in this case: FUNNY) drifts but to find the ideal driving line to be able to drive around the track at a pretty decent speed without loosing control.

    What fun is it if you need a set of new rear tires after a track event? Or if you destroy or damage your car?

    I'm afraid the link is dead. I bet there was too much traffic and the video has been removed from the server.
    Videos use a lot of bandwidth and create a lot of traffic.
    Some people have their own webserver with 50 GB traffic included and they don't know (or didn't read the fine print) that they have to pay up to one USD or even more for each additional GB over the 50 GB. If somebody is hosting a video with 20 MB length and several thousand internet users are downloading it, you can imagine what happens. Ouch, expensive experience.
