NO SH.T.  The whole global warming scam is all about slavery, removing freedom, except for the Commie Elite.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Global warming (I prefer to call it climate change) is a reality but I still have my doubts that it is (solely) man made.

What I have ZERO doubts about is that some people try very hard to benefit politically and financially from this current climate change hype and almost everyone seems to be very eager to support these people. If major scientist organizations say it is a fact, if the UN says it is a fact (oh boy if you knew what morons work at the UN 👀), if major news publications say it is a fact, if politicians say it is a fact, it is a fact, right?! 😉

The media is also all over this because finally, they have something they can brainwash and scare people with, this keeps them alive, in the focus of public attention and it makes them influential.

The new gold rush will be about new clean energy, CO2 trade and new battery tech. Time to join. 😛

Very true. The overall quality of the scientific literature has declined as standards for peer review have degraded or been entirely eliminated. Humans have been changing the environment since the first fire was deliberately lit; however, the current global warming literature is far more political than scientifically rigorous and in the long term the credibility of many of the more extreme claims will be seriously eroded.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

I am not one for media hype however extracting millions of tons of fossil fuel that has been under the earths crust for millions of years through a natural process of extracting CO2 over a billion years changed the composition of the atmosphere to what it is today. Over the last 100 years we have been reintroducing that CO2 back by reversing that reaction. And everyday all around the world we are lighting billions of flames in this chemical event. It’s only logical that we are changing the composition of gasses in the atmosphere. Furthered by all the other polluting industries worldwide. We cannot compare man taking a few twigs and lighting a fire 200k years ago to what is being done today. That twig fire would not compare to a forest fire at that time. However today we have continuous forest fires in the form of burning of fossil fuels at a increasing rate annually. Logically this rate of chemical reactions taking place with the release of CO2 has an effect no matter what anyone thinks. You don’t need 30 degree winters in Germany to finally get convinced because it’s too late by then. I think the heat waves this summer should ring some bells even in the biggest skeptics because when you are experiencing the same summer heat as in the deserts of Dubai that should give people a wake up call. And when the trees and plants in your gardens are turning brown because they are getting burned by the sun as they are not designed to take that sort of heat one should release that something is not right.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Also don’t forget one of the biggest industries in the world have a vested interest for the talks against climate change ie the oil industry. Just like big tobacco would advertise that smoking was healthy for you till there was overwhelming evidence that it was actually harmful. In the same way all the scientific research against climate change has powerful vested interests behind them.

991.3 GT3 RS test results from Sport Auto. A bit slower than .2 it seems but could be due to their measurement

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Does it say anything about the sound ?

I would think it is due to the measurements , or difference in temperature . Impossible to have the exact same conditions as the previous measurement and we all know how that affects measurements .

Interesting thing . Last time at the Ring speaking to the '' locals '' who drive extensively their GT3 RS , they said that actually non pro drivers are faster in the .01 then in the .2 due to the more supple and easier  chassis of the .1

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Car is more quiet under normal driving conditions they say. I actually heard the car yesterday but there was no .1 or .2 for comparison.  Still sounds pretty good to me and I don't mind if it was more quiet given the ever increasing noise regulations on most tracks. What's interesting though is that the .3 was 1460kg whereas the .2 was 1443kg, with identical options. This contradicts Porsches claim that the new car is 5kg lighter.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Regarding weight. I read that, in the past, Porsche used to specify the weight of its models in their lightest configuration (meaning fitted with ceramic brakes and other light weight options). Now there's a new law that requires them to specify the weight in "standard" configuration (meaning with no options).

So comparisons between newer and older model will always be in favor of the older ones.

Good to hear . Anyway , .2 is at the upper limit of inside noise when driven on highways . I need ear plugs now when I do my 650 km stretch to the Ring , but did not need it in the .1

And as you say, on many tracks cars start to get banned because of too many DB , even with stock exhausts . So a slightly quieter car is ok, as long as the sound is good

Thanks for the explanation, I didn't know that

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Yes, sure, but the 1443kg and 1460kg respectively are real values, measured by Sport Auto, not standardized numbers for documentation or homologation purposes. So there is this difference of 17kg, which is in contrast to the explanations we had in Porsche press releases before. Even recently AP said, with he Spyder 4.0 there is additional weight because of OPF, as it is an additional component, but in the Speedster (and GT3 RS we all concluded) they were able to delete/omit the pre-silencers.

It doesn't really make sense why it actually turns out heavier now in the SportAuto test.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

all depends on the options fitted

Yes, they do and they use their words carefully. Smiley  It still seems to be loud from the inside though.

I heard the .3 only for a few seconds once, car wasn't a production series model yet, so difficult to tell more. It was a bit muted though, the sound was deeper in my opinion..

does someone know the typical time difference between BTG and an ordinary lap ? That GT3 RS looks so much more stable than the 600LT but is a lot slower in the fast sections of the ring

btw: this video popped up this morning "7 Blind Minutes of The Nürburgring Nordschleife in the AMG GT R", amazing how well Misha knows the ring

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Somewhere around. 20 sec shorter BTG...

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

The 600LT does looks very unstable in most parts of the Ring . The driver is constantly correcting , the steering wheel going form side to side .  Maybe it it part of the fun of that car . But maybe also needs someone with excellent driving skills to be able to achieve such speeds without wetting his pants .

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

JP, who owns German a tuning company and runs a 1,7mil subs YT channel, published a video where he "builds" his own GT3 RS - sort of a Porsche home story for car addicts. The more interesting part is when he explain the new ITB and OPF. Here is an screenshot from that video showing the OPF (green) and cat (blue). Astonishing that the car has a sound at all.

You find the video here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLPTZSw2TZg ; engine talk starts at around 18:30 . Sorry, German only
