Gnil:This is going to be a very fast car ......
991.1 GT3 level...straight line. On the track, a tiny bit faster. On road tires.

Yes, the 991.2 GTS will be pretty fast but wait, the 991.2 GT3 and GT3 RS are coming as well, so...

ALDO:each new Porsche (in the line) is faster - you don´t need to be a rocket scientist to predict this
I didn't predict this, I stated a mere fact based on current (development) numbers.
The real breakthrough will be the next 911 Turbo generation...just wait and see. Weissach isn't pleased with the 488 GTB and it's stellar performance but in my opinion, they are a bit late to the game. Let's see how this plays out for them.

We've heard this loads of time from Porsche with their rubbish talk that they are not happy with the performance of the competitions car being better than theirs, next TurboS won't have more that 590bhp and that's being conservative.
Italo:next TurboS won't have more that 590bhp and that's being conservative.
So, you are predicting an increase of 10hp or 1.7%????

RC:The next Turbo S will have wayyyy over 600 hp total system power.
That is sounding like confirmation of hybrid power?

We don't buy performance cars for their performance anymore ..... Soon any BWD sedan will lap the ring in sub 7:30 . We buy them for the emotions and feelings .

nberry:I thought Porsche executives recently indicated they were NOT going to continue with the hp race.
Well...electric hp don't count.
It is already a huge challenge to keep the car with the new tech at a similar weight as the current one, so they weight isn't supposed to increase, petrol engine hp is going to increase slightly (if not even get lower) but total power will be enough to make the owner happy, at least this is what I heard. The next 911 Turbo/S will be a true next generation 911, just wait and see. This also includes the interior.

Technically, at some point, there will be ESP systems which allow the driver to floor the throttle and drive on the Nordschleife at full speed without even proper knowledge of the quirks of the track and/or the behavior of the car.
I remember my first test-drive with the McLaren 12C and how impressed I was with the traction control and ESP setup. It may sound a bit exaggerated but I could basically press the throttle and the ESP did the rest of the job... A much more sophisticated system could easily compensate for driver error/skills and other stuff, incl. GPS controlled street/track adaptation. Sounds like the future? I am pretty sure it will be possible soon.

Then we can send our cars to the track while we control it from home comfortably on the couch

in all seriousness, there will be in the not too distant future full track specific autonomous modes in most highest performance street sports cars processing billions of bits of ambient, track, tire, etc data per second where owners can choose to just safely " race " their empty cockpit cars against each other watching and / or drinking from the paddock or lounge or even more remotely from their work office half way around the world
