you are allowed to bock once and then it against the rules. He was so closed to that. Rosberg was at his limit on that one....

Max drove an incredible race. Certainly one of the future champions. I did not even see the one fault our Dutch friend mentioned above. Please elaborate. I have it recorded and would like to go watch it again.

Lewis just scored the John Deere sponsorship for Monaco but he better be careful there is not much for him to mow there.

Re: 2016 Spanish F1 Grand Prix in Barcelona

I think there was one big over steer slip on the second last lap.. congrats to him, he really was amazing throughout the race and won it impressively!

Re: 2016 Spanish F1 Grand Prix in Barcelona

He blocked once, that's it, so, yes, he reached his limit of 1. But Hamilton clearly wasn't driving "smart". He was unprepared for the almost certain blocking move, and, when it came, he had overcommitted himself, and/or it never occurred to him to move back to the racing line and pass Rosberg on the outside. If he had done that, he likely would have passed him, and won the race. We see drivers do that all the time: feint to one side, drawing the leading driver to block and then out around him on the other side once the victim is committed. Just a stupid, emotional (probably angry because Rosberg had passed him earlier) and costly bad move, with not an ounce of technique in it at all.

Hamilton is fast, he's always been aggressive (often too so), he's ballsy, and it's gotten him far, but, he's never, to my memory, been a "smart" driver.

On another note, Vettel has really turned into quite the whiner. (Well, ok, he's always been a bit of a whiner.) His latest tirade on the radio after Ricciardo made an aggressive, but perfectly acceptable, move to pass him (and went off track himself to avoid a collision with Vettel, rightly done) late in the race was embarrassing. I mean, seriously, does he think everyone should just stay out of his way and never try to pass him? It is called racing, after all, despite the fact that we've been used to processionals lately in F1.

It's not how fast you mow...

Of course, Monaco is where everyone always expects Hamilton and Rosberg to take each other out, in turn 1. Rosberg can afford 1 more intra-team catastrophe without the danger of being overtaken by someone else, and he doesn't lose any ground to Hamilton in these incidents.

Re: 2016 Spanish F1 Grand Prix in Barcelona

I chalked it up as racing incident.

Rosberg knew full well Hamilton was much faster, he play chicken with Hamilton.

Hamilton fully committed to the inside passing line, he was right along side when Rosberg crashed into him, he doesn't have the option to move back to the outside as Rosberg was between him and the outside line. He also play chicken.

In the end both crashed out. One for not remembering this is the first lap, there were 65 laps to pass the other guy back. The other for underestimating the teammate's resolve to crash into him to defend his line.

    Racing incident. Period.

Mercedes decided that this is Rosberg's season, they needed to give him the title in order to keep him happy. Hamilton drew the short straw.

The only driver to whine more than Vettel was Alonso, and to a certain extend, Rosberg.

Re: 2016 Spanish F1 Grand Prix in Barcelona

Racing incident for me too .

Rosberg new well what he was doing by pushing LH to the outside .  Rosberg's car was much slower there . But he was defending hard his place as any other would of probably done .

LH should of thought that Rosberg would not give in and he should of payed it safe and wait for a better opportunity .

Both are to blame ..... or not to blame .

Max will be a future great champion  . Congratulations to him .  He has done it right since his first race in F1, progressing at a very fast pace .

Like one of the other members mentioned, there was in one of the last laps a moment of wheel lock/oversteer (couldn't really see) in one of the corners. He lost a few tenths because of it, but not enough for Kimi to profit.

Regarding Apias' remark; no I didn't mean that what F1 needs is both Mercedes to take each other out, but this kind of excitement, where there is battle about first place lap after lap, all the way to the end.

Regarding the Rosberg/Hamilton bowling incident; I saw some replays and there was one point where Lewis had to decide passing Nico Left or Right. Knowing that Nico would block him, I think inside was the safest option. However, also knowing that Nico will block you, he probably should not have gone all in... Anyway, it didn't work out for both drivers, but I think there was no evil in either's intentions. It's just racing.

Hamilton and Rosberg should crash out more often - it caused a far more interesting race! Smiley

Re: 2016 Spanish F1 Grand Prix in Barcelona

And again, NR wasn't playing fair...right from the start (wrong switch mode) and until the crash when he not only pushed LH wide but didn't leave him any space to survive!

Maybe you'll change your mind after watching THIS -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAJXvJMYglc

Obviously he did something different at the start then on the previous race in Russia, maybe that was the reason why he was so much faster than Lewis going into corner 1?!?

Meanwhile I really think that Mercedes is going all in on Rosberg as new WC!

What a pitty as he'd be like SV a WC "without a crown" as both are winning because of the car and not because of their speed & talent! :-(

Remember what happened when SV had finally (and for the first time) a true competitor-team mate (DR)... he left Red Bull in a season when he lost

    • qualifying duell SV : DR = 7:11
    • race duell: SV : DR = 5:13 (3 race wins for Dani)

Re: 2016 Spanish F1 Grand Prix in Barcelona

I disagree. NR was closing a gap and LH was going for a gap that was no longer there the moment he was next to NR. LH also apologised immediately to the team after the incident according to Lauda. Plus look at LH covering his visor with his hands after impact, this is pure shame of f****g up.

But who cares we've seen the future of F1 and he's called MAX  indecision

Re: 2016 Spanish F1 Grand Prix in Barcelona

Nothing really new in that, although, I disagree with some of his editorial comments. What it does show, however, is that Hamilton was clearly not alongside Rosberg until he had already hit the grass. Hamilton simply over committed himself, Rosberg made a clean blocking move, and the fault is primarily Hamilton's. Again, if Hamilton were smart, he would have feinted to the inside and once Rosberg committed to the block, gone around him on the outside; it's the oldest trick in the book. Just poor driving on Hamilton's part.
