    Pics from todays 997 Intro

    I like it overall. I can't wait to see the 997 Turbo! I did not drive it though, I don't think they were offering test drives anyways at this dealership. Great evolution in my opinion as far as exterior looks. I can't say I have a favorite generation because I like them all in their own special way. The interior had some familiar 996 features as well as some Cayennesque ones It appears less Sporty inside than I would prefer. This particular car is needing Euro clear side markers. Oh well! Enjoy the pics....

    Good photo's, between the extreme 911's of the previous generation.

    But why are all those 997 black, black, black and black? (or silver and al sorts of grey)

    The reason for the Black, Black cars is Porsche has sent the same cars to every dealer. All dealers get the same cars in the same models as the Carrera and the Carrera S.

    I drove the exact car today. It was awesome :-) I am surprised the dealer wasnt offering a test drive. Maybe the fact I have already ordered made a difference.

    I am sorry I meant to say that USA dealers have gotten the same cars Black, Black and the silver cars as well.

    Awesome pics - My dealer let me mess around inside of it but wouldnt let me start it - I guess it was because everyone that worked at Porsche in Newport got to go to California Speedway and mess around with a bunch of 997's (most of them were already sold)So they werent allowed to touch it anymore

    The 997 is so good looking in black.

    That's an impressive display of Cayenne's in the background on the rear shot, does that mean that they aren't selling any?

    Went to my dealer yesterday. I've been looking forward to seeing this model ever since they replaced the 993 with the 996. All I can say is stunning!!! It looks even better in person than in all the pictures I've seen.

    BTW, my dealer had a Black S, a Silver S and a Seal Grey standard carrera.

    Also saw the 997 Sat for the first time at the "opening." Well done car IMO, subtle but very significant changes from the 996. Beautiful.

    All the USA dealers received the same car. Priced at US$99.3K for an absolutely beautiful triple black, S, PCCB, adaptive seats, full leather, chrono, heated seats, BOSE sound...

    A regular S just didn't look the same after seeing the triple black special.

    I'am really tired seeing the launch colored cars Black & Seal....being in LA Silver and its varients as well as Black are so common

    Have seen Guards and Speed in person much nicer IMHO

    Cobalt should rock

    The description "triple black" started in the 70s when 911s had the factory black colored forged Fuchs wheels meaning black ext/int/wheel centers ( which superceded the silver color or you could get silver colored phone dial wheels as an option whose style appeared later on 924/944s and 928s ) . The last 911 with them was the 1989 model year . With the debut of the cab in 1983, you also had the possibilty of " quadruple " black !
    The term is still useful today because cabs have choice of different ext/int/top colors .

    On the Porsche order list, the exterior colors are listed for the top and the base as separate items even for a coupe. So a triple black car would be black top, black base, and black interior.

    Great pics!!! I dont think the GT2 or the Turbo looks dated beside the 997. Cant wait to see the new Turbo though.
