    Multifunction Steering for PDK?..love and hate!

    I've always hated buttons on the steering disturbing my driving, especially when you are buying TIP or PDK where you have enough buttons to worry about... Now with the new ugly PDK steering wheel (to start with), I feel my arms are twisted to choose this "844 3-Spoke PDK multifunction steering wheel in smooth leather" option.
    I believe that PDK steering looks so bare without the multifunction buttons!!! What were the designers thinking? Is this done on purpose to sell more options?

    If you choose a standard PDK steering, the empty space where the multifunction buttons are supposed to be located becomes so bare and exposed. Its like they have created this huge waste of space in the design that has to be filled.

    Am i alone here or does anyone see my point.


    btw, does anyone know if there any other difference between the two steerings? are they both in smooth leather?

    i've never really given it that much thought to be honest. I always found the PDK wheel to be nice and ergonomic, even the buttons for changing gear, after afew hours driving will become second nature!

    Hi, I've test driven a 997.2 WITH the multifunction steering wheel and found it pretty nice to hold and use. I've ordered both PDF and the MFW for my car.

    I just like that it's the "circle" style wheel and not the "triangle" style wheel like the 997.1 multifunction.

    Ferrari wheel = simplicity

    You have the starter button and the "manettino" and that's it. The paddles are fixed to the steering column. It's all you need to drive the car. The rest is just superfluous crap that doesn't belong in a sports car. What next - steering wheel controls for making the in-car decaf latte for you?

    is there any difference in the leather finish of the MFW in comparison to the standard steeirng? It just says "cross stitching in smooth leather"

    The PDK steering is ugly by itself. If you add the multifunction buttons it's worse still. All that plastic over the 3 hubs is ridiculous.

    Sorry Fellas, that's one FUGLY wheel which crosses the line for a "sensible" interior.

    It completes the total overdone ornamentation of the interior.

    Guy in charge of styling the interior must be a fan of Versailles aesthetics:

    But why do so many people have this opinion that sports car cannot be comfortable? Why cant a car be sporty and make me a decaf latte?

    MF wheel? Lattes? Just proves everything is backasswards.

    E.g.: US Open tennis: the guys are dressed like slobs. International TV, the highlight of their career and they don't bother to shave and are dressed in sh*tty baggy _drab_ clothes ready for yardwork. BTW, do they have a BO smell too?

    WOW: it's almost complete Bizzaro World where everything is opposite.

    We need the input of somone who has experienced both the standard PDK wheel and the MF PDK Wheel to tell us the difference. Is it the same leather finish??? same thickness?

    im test driving some facelifted 997's this wednesday, will pay close attention to the steering wheels!

    A sports car can be comfortable, but it's meant for driving. If you want to drink latte's and read your crackberry while driving, buy an SLK.

    although all those buttons have a very busy look, but i do love my with them, it is much easier to take calls and do some minor PCM adjustments such as volume control and such...

    you can live without them but hey, easier the better sometimes... that's how i feel
