Now they can use this technology in their F1 cars and call it F430 derived technology.
No more push of separete buttons switch relays do magic .

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

    @ crayphile

I wrote that - its off the Italiaspeed site. Ironically all the info came from this forum.

Made a mistake in it though - its the revcounter, not the speedo which is yellow / red

According to AMS the selector changes characteristics for ESP, electronic dampers, locking differential and gearbox. The later of course only if the F1 system is ordered.

I would be surprised if traditional 6-speed manual is even offered on 430, given all these "F1"-oriented features...

It is offered, though I am also curious about sales figures. I am quite happy that they provide the choice of options though!

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

    Thanks, RC.

What's the switch on the lower left of the wheel? I would think that location would be an awkward place, unless it's thumb-activated.

"Engine start". Pressing a button will be at least as ergonomic as twisting an ignition key.

Looking at the photo Ron, those look like too many settings for just a rear differential locking rates, i.e. those are more than what a just differential can have an effect on, Snow, Wet, Sport, Track, and "something" OFF.
Leads me to think it also changes the setting of the Traction Control (ASR) or the electronic stability system (PSM equivalent) if it has one, and also F1 gearbox shifting maps. Managing all that would then be able to taylor the cars dinamics for Snow, Wet, Sport, Track, and Track with ASR/PSM OFF. In F1 they have all this but in separate buttons/nobs for independent setting posibilities but that would be too complicated for a street car. Just my guess though.

Yes Carlos, I think that's right I like the fact that there's still a step beyond "Race" where you can turn off the electronics totally

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

Personally, I am not impressed with:

    1) The exterior which is still no match for the beauty of a 355. If they wanted to emulate the Enzo, they should have given an Enzo-like nose as well to complete the package.

    2) The F1 gearbox shift time of 150 milliseconds is too slow compared to BMW's gearboxes. The E60 M5 supposedly has a max. shift speed of 65 milliseconds.

    3) Ferrari still doesn't have the confidence to give us a 9000 rpm redline.

    4) I see no mention of safety advances.

However, I am thankful they are still offering the choice of a manual while BMW is trying its best to force SMG down our throats.

How many 4-liter plus motors are there on the market with a redline over 8500? I can't think of any, but I assume you have some in mind...

    Gary

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

The new M5's V10 was advertised at first with a 9k redline as well, but now its down to 8.300 RPM.

I love cars that rev, but isn't the redline one of the things that separates a race motor that needs to be rebuilt every 40 hours with a street motor that will run 150,000 miles without a rebuild? So I'm not really disappointed when the redline is a bit lower than some astronomical number because I'm sure that there was a reason for it.

"to taylor the cars dinamics for Snow" is possible in a F1-car? don't believe you...

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

Can anyone confirm the F 430 has an F50-style adjustable suspension button to lift the front?

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

That would be interesting, car seems to be very low, the specs say it is 2 cm lower than the 360 (and 3.5 cm longer BTW).

That button is on the Enzo.
And I thought I read that the F430 has it.
It wouldn't need it as badly as the Enzo does
becauase the Enzo's nose is so long though.

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

didn't hear anything of hight adjustable suspensions.

This is something whats only to get in the Lambo's!

If 430 is indeed 2cm lower than 360, F is asking for a marketing failure if 430 doesn't have height adjustment feature

Yeah from what I have heard the Murci's REALLY could use it.
The F430 has a short nose, so low or not, if your careful you should be okay.

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

Only Murcielago has it and not on Gallardo, right?

No, the Murci NEEDS it, neither one has it.

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

    Both is wrong.

The Murcie comes with it as standard, the Gallardo can be ordered next year with it (thats what the dealer told me, while testdriving the Gallardo).

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

Cool! Now if only I can get confirmation that the F 430 will indeed has it..

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

    Again: what says dhayek???

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

Seems to be mixed info out there re: 430 specs....I've heard wt and height essentially unchanged from 360....also have seen specs showing 430 being 133 lbs heavier and 1" lower than 360. If 430 dimensions essentially unchanged from 360, I would argue height adjustment is not needed. Just got 360CS which seems to have much better ground clearance than previous 360 Coupe and Spider (all used on SF's steep hills)....which in turn scrape far less frequently than SF-incompatible Gallardo....I suspect the 19" wheels of CS give it that extra clearance vs non-CS 360, making it downright commuter-friendly....

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

Ground clearance of late 360s is no problem at all, 355 e.g. was.

Re: F430 - OFFICIAL Pictures Available and Tech Info!!!

I've sent Dhayek a message. Waiting for his reply..
