    New US options for Deviations

The new US 997 Ordering Guide has a bunch of new options for interior deviations. For example, I am considering ordering full black leather interior (option code AT) with Carrera Red Seats (option code 25241). However, my dealer is telling me that this requires the $5400 Leather Interior to Sample option (code 99).

The Ordering Guide does not indicate that option code 99 is required for 25241 or any of the other new interior deviation standard options. Does anyone know what is correct?

    Dealer is lying to you.

You do not plan to resell that car, do you?

Re: New US options for Deviations

Yes, he is mistaken at the very least. Order option AT as you mentioned, $3,655. Then just add option 25241 "Front and rear seats in leather deviating color" $1,500.

Its been done before, see this thread:

Not too bad, considering how a different seat belt color is $540...

I think it sounds great, but not everyone will share my taste I guess...

Thanks for the link. I think it looks great, although I may add red door panels as well.

Re: New US options for Deviations

Don't overdo it. The red seats are nice for a black car with mostly black inside.

I think you're right and I'm trying to be careful, but I'm a bit concerned that the red seats will look like they're just floating without anything to conncet them to the rest of the car.

Re: New US options for Deviations

why not go with the full black interior and deviating center seat inserts, door center and rear side panels? Deviating stitching would also be required.

I've considered that as well. It's a bit of an M3 look (not a bad thing). Any other opinions?

I agree that the style of deviated seats inserts and door centre panels is a bit of an M3 look.

How about red carpet? I have seen pictures of Honda NSX that had red seats and red carpet.

But there is one problem though - Porsches have carpet on the bottom of door pockets, so if you deviate the carpet, the carpet on the bottom of the doors will also be deviated, which will mismatch with the black door speakers. The solution is to have the door pockets covered in black leather instead of carpet.

Re: New US options for Deviations

Keep in mind just because Porsche offers it as an option doesn't mean it looks good.

Imagine entering your car at a PCA car show and having a questionnaire for all who view it. How great a percentage of responders would _more_ than dislike what you chose?

Yup. Everybody has their own taste; that includes Prince Charles and Mike Tyson.

    FWIW

Agree that just because Porsche offers it doesn't mean any of us should buy it. But I also buy for my tastes, not for anyone else's, not for resale, not for the masses. Just lucky I guess . . .

Re: New US options for Deviations

I saw a Honda S2000 today. Black interior, red seats, red carpet. Nice.

Re: New US options for Deviations

The important thing is that the owner likes it. If one can accept the inevitably higher depreciation of a highly customized interior/exterior, then by all means, have it your way!
