    C4S track car ideas

    Just picked up a sweet 2004 C4S for dedicated track car. Would like to do a couple of things first to perk it up a bit. Need ideas on type/size of racing wheels. Also looking for ideas on headers. Thoughts?

    let's see some pics!!

    Well my dad told me today that he ran 315s on the rear on his 06 4s. I would think that is getting up there for tire size. I haven't done any hp mods (yet) to my 2002 so I can't speak to any headers etc - although my next purchase will prob be Fabspeed headers and a Tubi exhaust.

    I had a 2004 996 C4S and took it to the track stock. I had PSE on the car and sounded fantastic. The way the car comes stock handles great. If this is the first time you're taking it out, don't change anything on the car and learn how it feels as is, before getting into modifications. The car's limits are very high. Make sure its alignment is spot on for the intended use and get only an exhaust to make it alive, as it is quite subdued without some kind of sports exhaust. The PSE was great.

    Disconnect the drive shaft to the front wheels and lighten it.

    Thanks. I'll check out the PSE's. I've had it at the track once now and it was truly an awesome ride. Certainly a more capable car than I am a driver.

    Beautiful. Mine was in Seal Gray metallic and Graphite Gray interior. Had a MSRP of $106k but I got it for $90k with only 425 miles and 2 months use! I regret the day I sold it to buy my new Carrera S because I sold the C4S with 20k miles for $80k and bought my new Carrera S with all options, X51 included, for $123k and I know the depreciation hit on that is HUGE!!!!!!!! Enjoy the awesome car you got!

    C2S for $120+k ??? That is GT3/ Turbo Money... must've had a lot of options.

    Beautiful car. Congratulations. Rather heavy for dedicated track car, though. First, it needs serious weight loss followed by other pertinent mods if the primary intended use is track. Of course, DE is essential.

    It looks awesome. I bought my C4s in Austin as well.

    You should plan on the Sept or Oct PCA DE at Texas World Speedway -should be a blast.

    I'll plan on that. Haven't done a PCA De yet but have done 8 or 9 Driver's Edge DE's at TWS and MSR.

    Yes, I know. I ordered it from Champion Porsche to my almost liking. I say "almost liking" because, had it been available in the USA, I would have ordered the -20mm sports suspension with limited slip differential. As it is, though, I got the X51 Powerkit, Aerokit, Carrera Classic 19" wheels with the 5mm spacers, Arctic Silver exterior, full leather black interior, adaptive sports seats, Bose system with CD changer, seat belts and gauges in guards red, Sports Chrono Plus, self dimming mirrors, stainless steel entry guards, 6 speed transmission of course, TPMS and airbag deactivation kit which I installed afterwards. Those are the major options and, when you add them up, you'll see how easy it's to jack the price up! I ordered the car in November of 2005 and got delivery in March 2006. I couldn't wait for the Turbo or GT3 and be without a car until their release in the USA because I am an impatient fellow... now I regret it but not at the time. What can be said?

    I had 996 GT3 control arms put in my old 997/C4S (yes they fit). This allowed me to dial in my front camber and transformed the car into a great track car.

    Is the camber not otherwise adjustable?! ahhhh... is that why they upgrade the drop-links typically?

    Camber is adjustable on non-GT models, but only within a smaller range as called for by less track-oriented cars.
