Yes isn't it funny how that works.
I remember when the new Boxster (987) came out many of the 986 owners bashed it because of the side vents and steering wheel. They said it looked terrible, when 99% of the 987 looks the same as the 986. Now we will see some (jealous?) 997 owners bash the facelift when it looks the same except for the taillights and headlights! Go figure.

Not necessarily. As a 997.1 S owner I think the FL's front end is better than the previous version but I really like the rear of the 997.1 more than the 997.2. To say it plainly, I really don't like the rear lights on the 997.2.

Saw my first mk2 Carreras today also. Popped down to my OPC for some goodies on my soon to be had road trip around Europe.
Anyway, I must say that I prefer the back of the car now, and the interior changes are good...BUT, the front of the car looks like a Boxster! The new wheels look cheap too.

I have been a RT member for 985 days and that makes just over 2 posts on average a day.

I think Atz's comments can be termed neutral and objective as he's not YET a Porsche owner.
My personal impression of the FL is that IF I were about to change my car, I'd probably be happy to consider it. As I'm not, for several reasons, about to change my car...I'm actually still very happy with my Mk1.
In all honesty, 'jealousy' has absolutely nothing to do with it.
It's really a matter of circumstance and common sense. In the current economic climate, I have more productive areas to invest in than taking a major hit on my perfectly adequate Mk1 against the FL.
It also occurs to me that the major differences are not outwardly apparent (headlights & tailights). They are direct injection and PDK.
When the time comes I'll give it all full consideration.
