Coupe of quick observations:-
Love the sports PASM (-20) Reminds me a little of the 997 GT3 setup.
The ECo shift logo on the LCD display that tells you when to change up gears is a waist of time ! If you are just pottering along and feathering the throttle it lights up telling you to shift up, and then does it in the next gear, all the way up to 6... If you put the car in sports mode it turns off.
The new key is a big improvement, however with the sports suspension it rattles against the key fob, because it is now a metal hoop at the top. East fix with some electrical heat sink on the key fob ring !!!
The dynamic head lights are very cool... Just got in from night run out and it takes some getting use to having the lighting move with the steering...
The day time running LEDs are great and very bright with the 'home' function when parking. Will get some night shots over the next few days.
The six speed manual box is as good as ever !
The engine still has the right noises when above 3000rpm !
New PCM is perfect ! Love the new navigation, big update, and the POI functions are now useful with lots of POI's. Also with the phone you can now call the POI's when you select them off the map. The iPOD is also great, but on a large iPOD with lots of music, it can be a bit dangerous scrolling through a huge music list !!! The phone hands free is great big improvement over the PCM 2 effort.. Also it now has a mute for the phone !!
Also love the larger mirrors.. No blind spots and get a nice view of that large rump !!!

Went through the checklist !
Did not drive it before hand. Interestingly the OPC's demo cars were hit by the hail storm and both of them had to be repaired !!! Mine was fine. No dents or swirl marks... Very dirty now though with all the rain and sun today !!! Resisting washing it as it is going to be detailed this Friday by Elite.

The nose resembles the 993 nose A LOT in the first pic, don't know but somehow it resembles it more than the 997.1!

What is that home function?

Probably not given it the correct name but it is a setting to keep the side lights on for 30 seconds when you exit the car. Might be called welcome home (or is that the electric garage door lifter ?) always get the two muddled...

Congrats on the new car. Did you trade a 911 against it? I'm talking to the same dealership that you bought your car from. About 6 weeks ago they said my May '06 997 C2S (black, 8k miles with X51 & PCCB) was worth about Pounds50k. Today they say Pounds44k. Values seem to be collapsing with a glut of early 997s coming on to the market and the current down turn in sales. Was wondering what sort of deal you got.

Values seem to be collapsing with a glut of early 997s coming on to the market and the current down turn in sales. Was wondering what sort of deal you got.

Hi Martin,
Nope this time i had a Cayenne before the FL car. It was 3.5 years old and they offered me Pounds17k last Sept for it
I sold it privately to a friend in April. Interestingly fuel has gone up since then and he hasn't talked to me since !!!I did not get any deal apart from reduced GAP insurance and the promise of PSE retro fit for the factory price...
Dealers do talk with Forked tongue. On my collection day they said that Cayennes were shifting well, but we all know that with these fuel prices they are about as welcome as a fart in a space suit !! I can't help thinking that this country and the media are hell bent on talking us into a recession, and traders are using it to take the pi*s on offers for cars. IMO good cars with a good spec will always have a buyer.
If i were you i would have a crack at the private sale.... or keep the car as it sounds lovely with a bang on spec... (When i ordered mine in Feb. if your car was around i would have bought it as it was the spec i wanted in 997.1. As i could not find what i wanted i waited for MK 2)
I have an LOI in with them for GT3(RS) 997.2. So it will be interesting to see what an Pounds78k FL car is worth in 2 years time
At the moment i like my car so much (only had it 3 days though !) unless i get a good deal on it in i will pass on the GT3Cheers,
