Carrera GT lapping Le Mans, my 599 and some news
First of, as usual, apologies for my discretion, lots of work, lots of driving and hardly any time for Rennteam. But I do keep track from time to time.
Wanted to share with you the latest in my car passions.
I was at le Mans Classic a few days ago, and they allowed modern supercars to lap the 24h track. Needless to say, this was absolutely amazing!
Lapping a Carrera GT on the 24h of Le Mans track. Past meets present. The GT returns where is should have belonged.
I did 6 laps, each being 13.5 km, it's a long track guys and boy is it fast!
Reached 294 kmh on the Hunaudieres straight (not quite 300, damn!!!) before jumping on the breacks for the 1st chicane, then 2nd chicane, then Mulsanne, Indianapolis, Porsche, all legendary turn names for a legendary track!
My RS was there too driven by my mates. Made some happy few that day!
My mate with his Scuderia was there! What a car! I absolutely adore it! If I didn't have the RS, I would get one instantly, it's amazing! The E-diff coupled with the F1-track make that car so efficient!
He would actually close in on my on the curves but then the GT would distance it on the straight!
Great action in Le Mans! Porsche vs Ferrari all over again!
Then, the real show started, watching a Porsche 917 fight a Ferrari P3 at night is the stuff of legend!
Great event which I highly recommend.
Apart from that, I finally received my Ferrari 599! Hurray!
The wait was 18 months instead of 26, mostly due to a massive wave of order cancellations in the US and the UK following the credit crunch.
About the car itself, I've done onnly 650 km but what can I say, it is AMAZING! Simply the best GT in the world, period.
Not quite as fast as my GT I would say but more savage thanks to the impressive auto gearbox!
I do like the paddles actually, it suits the car's character well.
Most impressive is how easily accessible those 620 ponies are and the CST is amazing! Makes Porsche PSM feel very stone age.
Quite a collection now between the Carrera S, the RS, the GT and the 599.
I am actively looking for a 911 GT1 and then I think I will stop.
My dream is come back to Le Mans Classic in two years with my GT and GT1, how cool would that be!
That's it for me. Any questions, please ask.
News wise, saw plenty of 911 mk2 at Le Mans, Porsche brought some for testing, didn't drive it but it looks nice. Heard good things about PDK but am not sure it suits the 911 character well.
I still love shifting myself! Oldschool that I am...
