Difficult to say, Darren. My car has a LSD which might further improve traction, so I'm not sure I can make a valid statement. Fact is: when I fully accelerate from standstill, the car runs like hell, no PSM light flashing, no traction problem, it just shoots away. 
The 996 Turbo always had a certain lag at the beginning, unless I was willing to burn my clutch. 
From 0-125 mph, the 997 Carrera S is as fast as a 996 Turbo with Tip. 0-80 mph? Well, the Carrera S Cab is also a bit heavier, so I think the Turbo will have a clear advantage, even in that speed range.
Surprisingly, the 997 Carrera S need high rev to run fast, pretty similar to the GT3. Under 4000 rpm, there still is power but you need to get over 5000 rpm to let the beast scream. I love this setup a lot because it suits my shifting habits much better, especially when driving along deserted country roads.
