2008 CTT fuel consumption

Quick one, just checked my 'trip' logbook on my 2008 CTT and noticed an overall fuel consumption of 18.1 l/100km, 15.5 mpg(uk) and 12.9 mpg(us)

. I have just clocked 2500km and the average speed is 45 khp (not reset since purchase). OK, I don't have to think about fuel at 14 penny or 25$ cent per liter. However do you have similar figures. According to the books it should be 19mpg(uk).

I don't drive the car hard although I had it a couple of hours if not more in SPORT mode (love it !!!!!

)

Any thoughts?

btw, I tried to look in our archives as I am sure the topic is discussed before however our search engine doesn't work very well

or it's me not knowing how to work it but it cannot be too difficult to do I would say

but no luck so far.

With all due respect, if you have decided to buy one of the most powerful and heaviest non-diesel SUVs, how can you even discuss the issue of consumption?
In any event, the official EU simulated driving cycle figures are always more optimistic than real life consumption for all cars from Smart to cayenne.

Dear Reginos,

Indeed fully agree (get sometimes carried away, same as life here in Oman as it is a real dream posting). However fuel consumption is also an indicator of how 'well'

your engine runs and as I am a keen car enthausiast I thought asking my fellow colleagues for their thoughts on this.

OK so fuel averages are an indicator only, may I ask others what figures they get?

Somebody I know with the CTT Mk1 is getting 20-21 lt/100km in mixed driving. The older version is more consuming than the newer, so 18lt/100km should be normal IMO

Mine consumes average of around 18.9litres/100km but I suspect it is wrong, it feels more like 22-23 realistically.

Hi Mark
I just reset my computer last week and have been getting
close to 16 mile/gallon of easy driving. I have the GTS
which gets the worst gas mileage of all the Cayennes.
I have noticed that as the engine wore in, the gas mileage
got better and the power has improved greatly.

Hope your enjoying your car in good health, although with a lighter wallet with the gas prices the way they are...

Thanks, indeed I don't have to look at fuel prices (am I a lucky guy

)

The CTT is a fantastic car and as mentioned she is almost due for her first service, not sure though what is planned (oil change????)

I am getting used to the car and I really like the increased responsiveness when she is in SPORT mode. Just a pitty that the CTT doesn't have a flapper in the exhaust manifold like you have in with the GTS.

mark - i have 4,400 km and my computer, which i have not reset from delivery, is showing 19.1 litres. i have the heavy consumption of 3 winter months which will distort somwwhat during the warm up times.

my guess is that it will settle into the 17 litres range.

I went on a 2000 mile trip averaging 90-100mph on the highway. Got 14mpg with tailwind and 12mpg with a headwind.

but the smile must have been unbeatable !! I went for a wee spin through the mountains last night, what a drive, really love the car (no matter what fuel consumption)

Quick summary of CTT/GTS 2008 fuel consumption so far:

i took out a GTS manual; that will likely use 21ltr/100km based on the willingness to rev the engine. also geared very high - about 3k rpm @ 110km/hr

My daily commute will yield 8.5mpg...
A day out on sat afternoon will be more like 13mpg.

But that's for an 04 CTT.

Funny thread but since you started it, a little "indicator" for you: when driving my Cayenne Turbo S at Vmax (285 on the speedo, 272 kph according to GPS), the car eats around 41 liters/100 km when it is very hot outside. Usually it is around 35 liters/100 km when driving at speeds over 250 kph all the time.

My "average" fuel consumption is in the 18-22 liters/100 km range(city/country roads/Autobahn), depending on speed.

My Cayenne Turbo S runs very well, 0-200 kph time(Performance box) is 19.1 seconds(almost full fuel tank).

If I would tell them the truth, that for example the Chinese economy is booming and that they need much more oil, she wouldn't believe it. Why? This would mean that the only thing to "fight" it would be to boycott chinese merchandise and products. Meaning(western world reality): she wouldn't be able to buy almost anything anymore since most stuff, especially for kids but also clothes, shoes, etc. are made in China.

I see your point very well in incident you described. It also proves that even in advanced societies like Germany for example, people are not well informed sometimes.

out here you would not have a car or your licence if found doing 272km ph. they will let any dickweed drive like an [beep] - just not fast.

the cops here all speed themselves but simply will not accept that controlled speed with proper rules works. they have one mantra here - speed kills. it is as myoptic as the old drug rules.

Hi RC, thanks ! some speeds you are doing my friend, you must be living in a quiet part of Germany. A few months ago I flew across (Amsterdam in that respect) rented a car, picked up my dad and had a great drive to Leipzig on a Sunday. Aparently no trucks allowed on the roads. I had a Jag X type and managed to get several times 220kph on the clock (not easy though

, foot to the floor in that respect). After a fantastic Porsche driver training program we travelled back on Wednesday, what a nightmare, trucks trucks trucks, vans vans vans, cars cars cars and not the mention the drivers hugging the overtaking lane at 120kph. Very frustrating as I just had been instructed how to drive fast and every dog and his companion just blocking my path.

OK, just back from a wee spin around the Muscat area (excuse was shopping

) as we have nice roads as well (not unrestricted though, but no cameras is similar

). Love the speed of the CTT and impress many people by flying past even at steep inclines others struggling to get up

I haven't come even close to the speeds you are describing, my top speed so far is just below 200kph. I am confident I will go faster but we don't have the motor ways to exceed

My '04 CTT averages just shy of 15mpg (UK) in the city and will happily cruise at 22-24mpg (UK) on a longer cross country run on the motorway.
