    Re: Porsche Racing Green

HEY! I wipe my _black_ leather seats with a damp terry towel (followed by a dry one) fairly frequently. Especially after sitting there for a few hours.

Sand Beige is too light and prone to stains and scratches to show.

I have a facelift on order for a July-August delivery and have choosen Meteor Gray with Cocoa interior.

    Good man...

When you think about it, with a black interior, all of the accumulated "stuff" that potentially goes un-noticed and un-cleaned... It's somewhat akin to those TV news-magazine shows going into a cheap motel in the dark and turning on a black-light...

    Re: Porsche Racing Green

I see the Meteor/sand color is still in the lead. I'm seriously considering buying a 997FL just to get that exact combination as I can't find a used one in that color combo letalone with a tip transmission. Oh well, for $40K more at least I'll get the PDK :-)

    Re: Porsche Racing Green

One more thing - I'm really frustrated that 80% of the used 997s on the market have a black interior. Hey, tan is cooler in the summer and the extra cabin light in the winter really helps (emotionally).

LOL. yeah! Though you'd have a much more vivid display at a cheap motel a germophobe friend of mine travels alot and carries a "DNA Finder" UV portable light.

He says EVERYTHING (drapes, walls, lampshades) is covered with..., ahem..., "DNA" spray patterns at even the really nice upscale hotels.

Lighter interior is bad for prying eyes. I had a Bimmer with a grey interior and always had to empty it for public parking so opportunistic crooks wouldn't see something inside and think it would be worthwhile to break in.

Funny also since I have heard many guys (it seems) complain that they found the perfect older P car (or other) but that it has a [non-black] interior.

Yeah, but when it starts to get dirty you've got to actually clean it as opposed to just pretending that it's clean I can't help myself...

I'm right there with you... A lighter interior does increase the "cheer" factor.... Funny how people would never go so dark in their homes.. But in their cars, living in a dungeon somehow then becomes attractive...

I used to be the guiltiest... from 1985-1988, and then from 1993 to 2000, my daily-drivers were all triple-black Darth-Vader-mobiles. Then I saw "the light"....

But, as with everything, it's a personal choice, there's no wrong or right, just annoying opinions like mine...

    Re: Porsche Racing Green

It's also about not being destracted. Last thing I want at night is a glowing PCM screen reflecting against a brown interior resplendant of an odour free turd.

????????? You know, you may wish to see a professional about this apparent obsession/compulsion with dog poop, and your insistance upon relating everything that is brown in color to dog poop.... (I could go further on this tangent, but it would risk being incendiary...)

    Re: Porsche Racing Green

Interesting article/study on what a car's color says about it's owner's self confidence. From TopGear Click

    Total BS!

I've run a coupla dozen cars whose colors have pretty much covered the whole spectrum, so that survey could only make sense if I had a split personality.

    Oooops!

    Re: Porsche Racing Green

    fritz is correct IMO.

I don't match the findings either. Hummm..., perhaps I too need a new team of shrinks.

    Trick Science

So if you happen to be a color blind over-achiever what difference does it make as to the color of your car?

Fashion also plays a huge part in what we are offered and what we buy.

IOW these types of "studies" are 99% full of the stuff dogs leave on the sidewalk.

    Re: Porsche Racing Green

    meteor grey / cocoa brown
    white / cocoa brown

    x2 or red interior

    Meteor

+ Ascot Brown - the color used for the Carrera GT interior.

You can see what that looks like on the Techart site.

    Re: Meteor

GET RED! Make the rest of us feel better about _our_ decision.

    Re: Meteor

Jeez.... There's red, and then there's lipstick red...

Just as with any color, there's a rainbow of different shades... I'm not against a red interior (I've got many classics with gorgeous red interiors), but there's "good red" and "bad red", and that photo above, be it due to camera, lighting, or photo-adjustment on the computer, is gawdawful...

    Re: Meteor

Agreed 69bn. Certain shades are decent, "red" is a valid color for sports car's interiors.

This one? It's like on delivery day the new owner shouted out, "My GOD! WHAT have I DONE???!!"

    Re: Meteor

So if I have a silver 997TT and didn't protest the survey .... that's good, right?

It means I'm self-confident? I'm secure? I don't need to make a fool out of myself calling the survey bull or from a bad sample or spurious data. Or question if it included any Porsche drivers?

So I'm confident right? And drive a great car ....right?

    Are you sure?

Maybe I should protest the survey anyway. I don't know, do you think so?

Now it all makes sense, my low self confidence was color related .

That has to be some psyc class project for students to waste their time .

    Re: Porsche Racing Green

now thinking of going for GT silver with Carrera Red as per the RS 60 Boxster special ed.

    Re: Porsche Racing Green

I'd go for Mauve with Pink every time.

Seriously Atlas with Cocoa is better than you might think at first, and the dark metallics (AG is a kind of dark blue, there is also green and I think there is a still dark red) are v nice IMHO.

Or you cld go blk/blk (very deep slightly menacing look), or White and a neutral colour inside. I like white.

This post almost certainly won't help you but I had fun writing it...

Best of luck with yr decision,

    SoS.
