    Muffler Bypass any good on sound and gains?

    thinkin to do this mod... any one done it.. seeen fabspeed website.. seems like a simple pipe .. Probably can do a custom pipe intead with similar effect?

    I am interested in the same mod. I have been too lazy to crawl beneath the car. I know that the muffler is supported. I was wondering, if you remove the muffler, then those support points have been removed. All of the load is moved to the support points on the exhaust piping upstream of the muffler (cats). Are the cats supported, or is the support further upstream of that? Maybe even at the connection to the engine?

    Here's an option; works for cavemen.

    _Hideous_ welding job is amazingly good for guys who are afraid of lightning and fire.

    These pipes(pictured)appear to be the connecting pipes that come with the Fabspeed Maxflo 997 exhaust.A Muffler "Bypass" would have to pretty much loop 180 degrees. I don't think sucha pipe would require any bracketing as the system is very rigid and compact.

    A guy I track with has the muffler by pass pipes. The car is very very loud. Perfect for the track but really loud on the street and hard to hear the stereo or talk inside the cabin. A high end muffler shop could fab these pipes for a lot less than Fabspeed charges.

    hey guys.. do you think if i go custom fabricate a pipe like those fabspeed muffler bypass. would that be ok?

    Also i was jus toying with the either if i just removed one side of the muffler ..seems there is two parts.. would that make it less loud lol

    I had bypass pipes on my GT3 for 2 years, lots of street and track driving.

    There is a LOT of resonance and many think it is unacceptable for street use - at night in a quiet neighborhood you WILL get pulled over - maybe not in asia though

    Power is notably missing in the lower rev band and improves above 5-6k.
