    What would you do?

Thinking about getting the AWE 700 kit but toying w/ the idea of another Sport Bike. I sold my Sport Bike (Ninja 10-R) so seriously considering the new Suzuki Hayabusa to replace it. The AWE 700 kit would be about $5k more than the bike. If I went w/ the Busa I would probably wait till fall for a couple of reasons but what would you do? Go w/ the AWE kit & have one of the fastest cars around or go w/ the Busa & have THE fastest production vehicle ever?

I know this is probably an impartial location to ask the above question but I was going to post it in the off-topic forum when I realized no one there would know what the AWE 700 kit was. Thanks in advance.

    Re: What would you do?

well basically do you want to upgrade you vehicle or do you want another toy?

I need to go look for another car...

    Re: What would you do?

i personally wouldnt throw my warranty out the window for a couple of years giving the engine a chance to crater on its own...get the busa now and the awe 700 when you feel comfortable with the longevity prospects of your tt...clearly these remarkable engines can take it based on what other rennteamers have done...tough decision

    Re: What would you do?

Gregg - Your life insurer says to tell you to go with AWE.

Don't know much about sport bikes but I assume it will be a totally different "rush" albeit a more dangerous one. Your wife and children would agree to the bike?

    Re: What would you do?

Get the bike. It's 'nother ride in the amusement park!

    Re: What would you do?

    Get a ducati

Go with the 700hp car, it is much better to risk your warranty then to risk your life, plus the 08 busa is not that much faster than a 700hp TT, best 1/4 mile times for the busa were high 9s to low 10s at 140mph or so.
The modded TT will do high 10s and 130s but in a standing mile the TT will eat the busa for breakfast, check the texas mile numbers. Stock 06-07 busas were not any faster than a stage 2 TT and a 700hp TT will take care of the 08 past the 1/4 mile

    Re: What would you do?

Holy sht. The 700hp thing? You need that for track use, right? On the highway it's a frickin' millimeter away from insane.

    Re: What would you do?

Gregg, you already have 2 Harleys whereas the AWE will make your TT bring an even wider smile to your face Plus your wife and kids can enjoy the TT with you But only you know the answer....

    Re: What would you do?

I voted AWE...no go post the message on the Suzuki board and see what the voter response is.

    Re: What would you do?

Strad, dumb question. Obvious answer is "GET BOTH!"

    Re: What would you do?

The bike is too dangerous where we live Gregg, IMHO. Roads are bad, people don't know how to drive round bikes, weather is nice only 6 months of the year. Why don't you get just the 550 or 600 hp package?

    Re: What would you do?

I have the new Yamaha R1 with ecu, exhaust, speedshift. There is no quick speed fix like a tricked out sportbike. My 997tt arrives tomorrow and I hope it will keep me off the bike more. No matter what car I have, I always miss the rough edge of a bike when I don't have one. I bet the Busa will make you wet the bed at night lol.

    Re: What would you do?

    AWE 700 >> donor-cycle

    Re: What would you do?

I voted AWE simply because I have a friend who's in hospital (recovering) from falling of a bike. He's got a broken shoulder, shattered femur (metal rod through it) which is now 4 inches shorter than normal. He's lucky to be alive... and all that damage done by a gust of wind which knocked him off the bike! I know accidents happen etc... but... whatever you get, be safe.

Well, I didn't want to bring this up but just today I got called emergently to see 2 bike accident patients, one has multiple facial fractures and brain injuries and the other has a huge defect of the leg, both will require extensive reconstruction and one might not even make it.
That's mainly why I always pick the car over the bike

Thanks for all the comments guys. Regarding the bike being dangerous - No doubt. Anyone that has the opinion that a Motorcycle isnt dangerous probably shouldnt be riding in the 1st place.

Nick - RE: My wife & kids. My wife likes to ride w/ me almost as much as I like riding myself. Sunday early am she's the one that kicks me out of bed to go riding. It's just something we've always done. And wayyyy before I met her I was riding dirt bikes just shortly after I learned to ride a bicycle & have been riding street bikes for the last 24 yrs. I always had at least one bike. Even before I could afford a car I had a motorcycle. That's how I got around during college in CT while living off-campus even during winter temps. As long as there wasnt snow on the ground I would ride. My kids have grown up around dirt bikes, quads, motorcycles all their young lives so for them it's very normal (I have 2 motorcycles now) so there's nothing to "agree" or disagree about, it's a small part of who I am & it's definitely what I love to do.

I'm leaning towards the bike but appreciate the views for both sides. It's more fun to hear others opinions vs. just having the comparison in my own head. I really like the idea of doing both, the bike now & the 700 kit later on after the car is a year or 2 old.

ps: Eugene - I saw brief glimpses of your Turbo on an episode of Supercars last night on the SPEED Channel, they were filming the Texas Mile. What's his face from the show drove the black CGT & then did 204mph in a Ford GT w/ 850hp.

    Re: What would you do?

Strad, good looking collection of kids and toys. I saw the show last nite too. The back of my head is now famous! Mike and Todd (from AWE) and I were scheduled for an interview from the Speed TV guys but I passed to get back into Houston to meet the wife for dinner (she was irritated we would run late) - now after watching the show she asked why I didn't stay for an interview and why she didn't get to come along.....Ughhhh!!

    Re: What would you do?

1098S is sick! Awesome bike. I saw a black one at the Duc dealer last weekend. Is the 1098R out?

Congrats! You're keeping the Bimmer right?

Hey there Gregg. Yes, Bimmer (R1200S) is my commuter and a keeper. 1098R is out but they want $40K I think. 1098S is enough for now
