    Wife's turn

Guys, you have always helped me with my car specs and here I go again. It's that time again and she needs a new car. We went in and looked at the Caymen, then Caymen S, then C2 coupe and finally a C4s cab. I submitted the 09 C4S cab to the dealer. They are saying the supply of cars will be less this coming year due to euro situation and the price will be going up. They have a 08 C4S cab in stock and close to my spec (80%)but the interior is sand biege(white exterior), fully loaded. We are thinking white exterior, cocoa int, cocoa top, PSE, turbo wheels, etc. They are offering to knock off $11K out of $118K off of the stock 08 c4s cab. The big question, Should I wait for the 2009(sept delivery) or get her this car now? Sounds like a good deal but the 09 will have some face changes, and the direct fuel inj with better MPG. What to do?

    Re: Wife's turn

C4S in white is a dreamcar and getting it cheaper + getting it RIGHT NOW ???? No question...

    Re: Wife's turn

Man, I wish I had your dilemma!

C4S in white is beautiful and getting it cheaper + right now + HAPPY WIFE!!!!...Hmmm.

    Re: Wife's turn

Have you thought of waiting for the facelift. Prices will come down when the FL is released

    Re: Wife's turn

Either way she'd be happy, which'l make you happy...Which is what you really want, right???

So 1 Porsche Coupe is a Cayman and the plural is Caymen, right? lol

Seriously, though....I'd get one now, theres always something better coming out. Unless your worried about the value coming down after the facelift is intro'd?

    Re: Wife's turn

IMO, avoid cocoa top, get black. From personal experience after a few years of wear it's clear ragtops aren't called that for nothing.

I can't take the waiting anymore. Waited for my 997S, my 986S, my M3. Found my TT off a lot a few thousand miles away. You know what? A year later I think my off-the-lot car is _perfectly_ optioned! Ordering a car to your exact specs isn't THAT fantastically necessary.

Go for it. Keep in mind _everybody_ will be singling you guys out in dismay saying, "Hey look! She's driving the __old__ unfacelifted Porsche!"

    Re: Wife's turn

just do it...the price is right ...close on the options...fun this summer...happy wife...many benefits

    Re: Wife's turn

Very tough decision and no easy answer I'm afraid. White against cocoa is indeed a beautiful combination, plus *if* she uses the navigation system a lot, it is hard not to wait for 2009 for the rumored touchscreen system. The current nav is so bad.

How long are you going to keep this car? Is PDK a consideration? Will ordering the car to specs allow you to cut cost--less unwanted options? Have you probed dealers re. 2009 discount? I think if you wait a couple months, you will get fairly hefty discount too for an ordered car.

It seems I'm not being too helpful here. 2009 with the color of your choice is much more desirable IMHO, but as always, how much is that worth is the difficult question.

    Re: Wife's turn

Does your wife plan to keep the car for a long time? If it's a keeper, then I'd say go for what she wants (if you don't mind the new look of the face lifted car). For me, I always love new technology and improvements. That's a plus for getting the '09.

See if you can negotiate a good price for the '09 and compare that to the '08. If the '08 is too good to pass up, then go in that direction.

In the end, just remember, it's good to be in such a dilemma.

    Re: Wife's turn

Get it now & take the discount. Waiting for a refresh makes no sense to me. You wait for the refresh just to have the newest only to be out-done by the next model shortly thereafter. The only way to win the game imo is to get the entirely new model asap, trying to outsmart Porsche to own the latest w/ the refresh is always going to be a losing battle. The only way I'd say to wait is if you were within a couple of months of the brand new model but not the refresh. Even better than the refesh take the discount, enjoy it now & make the term corollate w/ the next model. Think of it as saving $11k towards the next model which would be the one worth the wait.

Besides which the new tail lights are weird & awful looking. As for the touch screen nav. my mom has that in her Lexus & it's terrible to look at when off, the finger prints make me cringe. It looks like someone let two 3 year olds loose w/ icecream in the car, not a pretty sight.

    Your wifes a lucky gal!!!!!

    Re: Wife's turn

What does your wife think of the car in stock? If she's ok with it, live by this principle:

    Happy Wife, Happy Life

    Re: Wife's turn

You guys!!!!! Ever since we atarted talking about buying her a Pcar she has been extremly nice to me hahaha
She keeps her car until I get sick at looking at them. I am actually pushing her to get a new car. Gregg, you are right with don't wait until new model. The only reason I am debating is because it does not have the thicker steering wheel, PSE and the turbo wheel and of course the beige interrior which isn't too bad but the cocoa wil be much nicer, I think. The Cocoa top is AWESOME!!! Here is what I will try to offer to them. Swap the 19" turbo wheels from other vehicle and install the PSE for $2500 and we have a deal. They probably wil say no. We sahll see. She is in Los Angles for the wknd and will be deligted to see it in the garage on Sunday night.
Thanks for your input. You guys are the best!!!!Love this site.

Cannga, U are right. I have thought about all of these and the reason I haven't pulled the trigger on the $11K discount. They probably will knock off $4K to $5K on the 09 model and the price wil most likely go up as well. The 09 will probably cost me $15K more than the current 08. Later

    Re: Wife's turn

    OT

    Gregg,

LOL. I have a Lexus with Nav too. This thing eliminates finger prints on the screen:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Screen-Pr...1QQcmdZViewItem

Thankfully the sheet doesn't reduce light brightness much at all, which was one thing that I worried about. Don't know if I bought from this particular company though.

There is also a device to eliminate the annoying "I Agree" at start up. Let me know if you are interested.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Wife's turn

    silverrules,

When a seasoned veteran like you ask a question, I knew the answer won't be easy. Probably what "bothers" me most is the current car doesn't have the color you want. If you have some degree of OCD like the rest of us here , this might come back to haunt. If only the $ difference isn't so much!

BTW, you are not considering C2S? IMHO, the one thing that car has over our Turbo, and possibly the 4WD C4S as well, is the "lighter, more nimble" feel to the steering. I thought it was fantastic, one of my most favorite things about the C2.

    Re: Wife's turn

If the turbo wheels become the stumbling block, I have a like new set I just took off of my 2008 TT Cab. that I will part with.

Cannga, u r right. I had the 997 C2S and loved it but she will be driving her car in all weather and I thought it would be safer with the 4WD. That beige interior is a bugger for me. The 4 month wait might be the only way to go to get all the goodies otherwise I will regret it. She keeps her car for a long time unlike me. The 11K is tempting but I most likely will wait for the spec car to arrive. We'll see.

Thanks KC!!!. I'll keep that in mind. BTW, I love the turbo wheels on my tt. I know a lot of 997TT owners change them. It's all good. Later.
