Cost depends on car and content, paint is in fact shielded just as underneath a 3M or Ventureshield coating. In fact about 90 % of taxi cabs in Germany are foil covered nowadays, solid creme is not really a fashionable colour at resale.

No, not even half of it. Of course it depends where you perform the job, a Porsche 911 or Mercedes SL(R) costs less than half of that.
Please note that matte and solid colours appear best, metallic colours cannot be easily replicated due to the fabrication process. If you'd apply this foil, a descrete natural paint underneath works best.

That sort of thing tends to happen to F599 drivers!
