Possible to get rid of all Volcano Gray bits?

Well, my OCD has really kicked into high gear. I have to say spec'ing a Porsche is one satisfying experience. Somewhat stressfull too though as you don't want to miss some little piece here or there that will ruin whatever look you are going for.

On that note, is it possible to replace every piece of Volcano Gray plastic? If so what am I missing?
    "Y" steering wheel
    PCM package
    switch panel
    rear center console
    instrument surround
    clothes hanger
    rear seat release lever
    defroster trim
    air vents

I just wish I had a 997TT in the garage to look at?

The problem with "Volcano Grey": you cannot get rid of it as far as the steering wheel is concerned (safety regulations...). My idea is to ask them to order silver colored parts (like the door handle etc.) in special color "Volcano Grey". At least that would avoid different shades of silver in the interior. All other parts mentioned in your post are available in leather, I think.

Re: Possible to get rid on all Volcano Gray bits?

IMO, Do the best you can with options. Then get car and see if any remaining VG exists AND bothers you. Eric the plug guy can paint anything, he'll be happy to tell you how to remove stuff too.

I agree regarding 99% of all parts... However, would you feel OK if the steering wheel would be taken apart and re-assembled after painting... Might result in safety issues

Re: Possible to get rid on all Volcano Gray bits?

Yes, you can get rid of the volcano grey on the steering wheel IF you get the multifunction steering wheel because there's two options (either leather or painted aluminum look) that will cover the only volcano grey bit which is the Y-trim piece.

I also believe that the only piece in volcano grey that you cannot get rid of is the trim piece around the seat release button. I'll have to double check on that but I think that's it. FYI the defroster trim and air vents come in aluminum look as standard.

Re: Possible to get rid on all Volcano Gray bits?

    Atomic is as usual, correct.

Re: Possible to get rid on all Volcano Gray bits?

Oh, about the Aluminum vent slat option?

I think it makes sense (if you want them) _without_ a matching Aluminum PCM/AC/Switch panel because the aluminum slats complete or fill in this line across dash and to door handles.

    Thanks for pic A80.

Re: Possible to get rid on all Volcano Gray bits?

U can get everything alu or leather from the factory incl the multifunction sw. I got all those in my car. The only thing that was not available in alu when I ordered my car were the instrument clusters.. That's the only thing that's volcano grey in my car and at some point I ll probably paint that..

Re: Possible to get rid on all Volcano Gray bits?

Ah yes, the small plastic trim piece around the instrument cluster. I forgot about that one.

I believe that is available painted under options:

EAE - aluminum look pkg switch panel
(instrument surround in aluminum look painted finish)

But ironically, the painted version does NOT paint this piece:
CDG - switch pnl pkg painted ext clr

I'm scratching my head on this one since CDG costs MORE than EAE.

This is what I ended up doing, plus the dash trim strip in leather. This really gets rid of the stark contrast between the volcano PCM and the alum-look vent surrounds. I really like the look.

I also got the Y-trim painted alum-look on the multifunction wheel. So, I'm left with the PCM, seat backs, and instrument surround in volcano.

Re: Possible to get rid on all Volcano Gray bits?

my car has lipstick red interior (special colour) but i couldent get the Y trim on the steering wheel, and the steering wheel center in lipstick

Re: Possible to get rid on all Volcano Gray bits?

We can eliminate most of the volcano gray junk anytime after you take delivery as well.

Re: Possible to get rid on all Volcano Gray bits?

If you pull up the ordering guide they have a line-drawing in there that tells you what material is used on everything in the cockpit. Then you can check off everything as you adddress it. Good luck. I had a lot of fun chosing my options,--and then changing them 4 times!

Re: Possible to get rid on all Volcano Gray bits?

    Hi
I had the same issues, I decided to leave the steering wheel and the instrument shroud. I made everything else gloss black. I can send photos. Looks heaps better than stock and well worth the money in my opinion

Re: Possible to get rid on all Volcano Gray bits?

I pretty much entirely painted all the pieces as well.
