I thought the Turbo is a guaranteed seller; i.e. dealers could sell twice as many if they could get them. Is this true?

Then why are some dealers advertising $5K off any 997TT in stock?

I dunno 'bout that; are they used cars? Has anybody _actually_seen_ a brand new Turbo sitting there waiting for a buyer more than a few days? Don't let internet listings of dealer inventory fool you.
You're doing your best to report what you hear sparkhill (not saying you're wrong) but maybe we need a diligent investigative journalist to go out and untangle hard facts.
There's just so few of TTs compared to NA car AND a "different" kind of buyer (not me) supposedly buys the Turbo. One who just buys what he wants (doesn't shop around).
I dunno..., just guessing.
Would be nice if some of those lucky bargain TT buyers reported in on Rennteam.

Funny. I know someone personally with an '09 allocation and build slot now. They may cut coupe production further so they can produce more cabs, and more profit.

Yea, heard that one too... One told me they can get $50K over invoice. Then why are some dealers advertising $5K off any 997TT in stock? The economy stinks and there is some pretty good competition out there. I'm still buying one, just not the sales BS that goes along with it.
Disclaimer: Not all dealers are bad. Some are well-informed and a pleasure to deal with. It is the slimy minority that sullies the reputations of the majority.

Does he have an actual build slot or is he on the waiting list. I am on a waiting list for an 09 and have not heard of anyone in the US with an 09 build slot.

Yes, build slot, early '09 model year, confirmed. I'm sure many larger dealers have some idea of their allocation, and a 'list' as well, and I'm also sure this is subject to change as Porsche maneuvers its allocation process. But yes, confirmed build slot.

I know of someone with a confirmed build slot for a 2009 Turbo Cab, but have been repeatedly told that the 2009 Coupes have not been allocated. Of course, dealers have told me this so take it all with a grain of salt.

So when can you expect actual delivery if all goes well, sparkhill? How far out are these cars?

Supposedly somebody is getting a July completion Cab. I am getting a Coupe and it sounds like August completion/September delivery is the best case scenario but it could be quite a bit longer too. It depends on where I fall in the allocations and whether or not I am being told the truth. Time will tell.

BTW, if your dealer is giving you ANY sht just find another one in your area.

I hope you are right Alex..., but..., at least as far as the body/cosmetics are concerned, the facelift is soooooo cheap and easy for Porsche to build parts for and slap them on the new cars. Why would they NOT do it on the TT?
