The current Diesel stop is a...stop. Nothing more. Temporary. Yet. It may be over for the Diesel at Porsche but currently, I am not aware of an end of Diesel cars at Porsche.
On the contrary, once the new Euro 6c/temp Diesel engines are available, I think that the Diesel has another chance, at least in Europe.
That ties in more with what I was advised by my dealer. The stop was temporary for re-certification of the engines and it was/is anticipated that deliveries would recommence in September. It will be interesting to see which version turns out to be true.
Porsche urgently needs the Diesel to meet emissions targets. Unless they come up with a much higher ELV rate (will happen with the Mission E, Macan ELV, etc. but it takes time).
So my guess is: They are going to use some emissions updated Diesel engines for some while before they turn their back on Diesel cars.
