Quote:Hey Jason - you have me concerned now...I had my tips ceramic coated black from Performance Coatings but haven't installed them yet. Did I understand you correctly that your coated tips discolored after a while?? Thanks.

I don't have those tips anymore. Cargraphic sells them, with two versions available; either the 80mm circular version or the 88mm oval rolled lip version. I got the 88mm oval tips originally and they looked really nice when new. After a while they started turning brown from the heat so I had them ceramic coated black. That worked great for a while but you have to keep them clean! I missed some dirt on the tips which ended up getting burnt into place. That left me with really ugly marks on the top which couldn't be removed. I ended up putting the stock tips back on.
Cargraphic (Road Sport Supply) now offers these tips specially coated black with something other than ceramic which I'm told works well.

There are many tips available. Sportec, 9ff, etc. Personally, I think that the one from Techart looks the best but they're WAY overpriced. The one from Tubi looks the worst of them all I think. I need to find a picture for you to see. They were on 6speedonline somewhere.
Jeff, no, the ceramic coating didn't get discolored. You'll be fine as long as you make sure to keep them free of dirt. Mine had a blemish from the dirt that was burnt onto the coating from the high heat. So, yours will be fine as long as you keep it clean.

I thought I liked the Techart's but glad I saw this pic before I ordered them. For that kinda money weird that they would have a total fake outlet. Enlarge this pic. if you can't see what I mean.

Reminds me of a typical Playboy centerfold: the twins are definitely fake .

Yep, that's the ONLY thing about the Techart tips that bothers me. The fake portion. That and the exorbitant price that they charge for it.
Here's a picture of the Tubi exhaust tips.

FS's tips are the only ones I'm considering now. Only thing I don't like is how far they stick out of the rear bumper. Even w/ stock tips the FabSpeed exhaust makes the stock tips stick out like an inch & a half further.

Gregg, my FS tips do not stick out at all as you can see in the picture, but Jason is right: keeping them clean and shiny is not easy especially if you do a lot of urban/slow driving causing blackening, but it buffs out. I've had mine for almost a year now and they still look like the picture when cleaned.

Gregg,
You're going to love me now but I'd advise against getting the Fabspeed tips too. I noticed that they tend to change color due to the high heat. That's why I haven't gotten ANY tips yet. I'm still waiting to see which one actually holds up to the high heat without discoloring. I think so far, the candidates are Techart and believe it or not, the stock tips. At one point I even saw that the black coating on the Fabspeed tips melts off!

jte, I have a cargraphic exhaust loud version and would be happy to show it to you. never heard a FS in person but I bet you'll be sold immediately by the sound of the CG.
Pandaman, I clean the tips frequently with soap and water when washing the car and every few weeks when dark spots develop, I use Luster Lace strips and they look like new.
Gregg, on the FS exhaust the FS tips do stick out too much for my taste like you said but on the CG the FS tips can even be pushed more to the inside but I did not want to go flush with the plastic fearing the heat might be too close to the bumper paint. a long time ago here on this board, I think it was RC who mentioned that you have to make sure the tips are neither too much out nor too much in because of heat and it makes sense.

Dun no they look like they stick out a bit more than stock. I remember a few guys confirming that w/ the Fabspeed exhaust the stock tips stick out about an inch & a half further than stock.
